I remember my Nan getting all huffy over my cousin not being Christened - a reasonable reaction if it wasn't for the fact that the last time she'd been in a church was to see my Mum n Dad get married about 10yrs earlier :rolleyes:0 -
oh i could go on and on about my gran, she tried to kidnap my sister and i when we were 4 and 2, that's what started all the animosity in the family, she has 6 kids and only speaks to 3 of them, she adores my youngest uncle but hates his wife and kids, she is very strange.
on the other hand my other gran is the most wonderful woman in the world, she's 79 and still going strong, my grandfather (her husband) is 93!0 -

 tried to kidnap you!!
earlier today I read a story about grandparents who kidnapped their 2 grandkids, they've just found them 20yrs after they went missing!0 -
yep, my dad was dying of cancer at the time and my mum was ill herself with 'ladies problems'. she tried to make out that my parents wern't fit to care for us and tried to sneak us out of the country (she's irish) when my mum was in hospital having an operation. my mum found out from a neighbour and discharged herself and rescued us from her. mum hasn't spoken to her since, as you can imagine
would you believe all of that was over the fact that my dad was a farmers son and so unworthy of marrying my mum?!? even though he was an accountant!0 -
Families:mad:       !!!!
Maybe our families are the reason that we have children of our own, to create our own 'nice' families. Although sometimes i would gladly not talk to my 12 year old that is driving me absolutely bonkers at the minute!!!!now mum of 4!!!0 -

I watched "Teen Mum High" last night (about a school that only works with pregnant teens/teens with babies) and one of the staff said that a lot of the girls they help have said that they got preg/decided to keep baby so they had someone to love and be loved by because they felt their families didn't care and that they wanted to bring up their child "properly" despite their family.
A fact I find really upsetting, its also part of the reason I want to be a foster parent - I worked at a local school for a while where a high percentage of the children were in care (as I worked in the office they were the ones I saw most as they were always getting sent to see the head) I'd say about 95% were just lacking a loving guardian, I used to come home and cry about itI just wanted to bring them home, give them a cuddle and show them that someone believed in them and didn't expect them to be a failure in life just like their parents.
See I'm a soppy bint really! :A0 -
Lu - Its my understanding (that could be wrong!) that the only extra monitoring you'll need is them checking ur scar for weakness during the labour/birth which they can do if u are in most positions
* I am right in thinking ur c/s last time was not emergency as in she was in distress aren't I ? coz I think that if it was distress they would need to monitor more.
Can I ask have any of the mummies on here had a vaginal breech birth?
there is lots of talk about breech babies on the preg thread at the mo and Chris was breech late on but I managed to turn him by spending many hours on my head! I'm just wondering because if I was told I had feet 1st breech I would want to attempt a "normal" deliveryI kept expressing until he was about 5 monthsold and always kept a little bit of milk in a bottle to try and tempthim but it never worked, with the result i had a freezer full of milkwhich I donated to a milk bank. (a really good thing to do if you'vegot any excess).Curious_George wrote: »i wand im such a nice girl normally(and if anyone says any different i shall club them and eat thierbones!) sorry, but unless you had a childhood like mine, you willprobably find what i just said quite shocking... i hate her, but shedeserves it,

My dad doesn't speak to me and won't even look at Alice. My mum either visits us or we are invited when he is out (he goes out if he knows we're coming) but we see him at family gatherings. It wouldn't bother me too much but my Aunties (his sisters) get very upset by it espiecially that he won't look at Alice as she can't possibly have done anything to offend him. She's the only grandchild so far so it'll be interesting to see what happens if/when my brothers have children.
its sad, but who is really missing out?
you dont need someone that nasty in your life, and lovely little Alice wont really miss what shes never had, so the only person who will miss out on any good times is your dad,
I imagine she has plenty of people that love her and gets all the hugs and tickles and love that a little girl can cope with,
why should she have to put up with someone who doesnt really care about her and is nasty enough to ignore a little girl who has done nothing wrong just because hes a blood relation?
your better off without him!
sorry for having a pop at your dad... but i see myself as Alice in this situation, disliked because of some reason thats nothing to do with me and mistreated ever since, if only my mum had the balls to say something, or to keep me away to stop it from happening, i would have had a much nicer life...
good on you for avoiding him.0
