Just here to ask advice really. My gf, (who recently gave birth to my first daughter) wants a boob job however her credit is very poor due to CCJ around 5 years ago.
She went and saw a consultant and they offerered her finance if she couldnt pay for the op in one go....Paying back an extra £2K on £5.5K op over 5 years (£130 p/m)
Originally her mum was going to sign up and my gf just make the payments, however her mum has now changed her mind.
She is really upset and dissapointed and is constantly asking me if I will sign up on her behalf, i am reluctent to, although I love her to bits and see as "the one" I dont want to be left in £7.5K debt if things go wrong between us & she decides not to make the monthly payments. (I already have a £5K personal loan & about £2K on my credit card.)
All thoughts and advice are approciated, what would you do in my situation? Am I right to be cautious or just being selfish?
Thanks

You are right to be resistant. MSE is littered with broken hearted stories of people who have taken loans out for now ex's that they have to pay for. Why has her mum changed her mind? Any reason why your GF cant just save up for this luxury??
My initial question is - is this boob job a response to her just having the baby? Is she breastfeeding? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Thanks for the reply.
Im not too sure why she has changed her mind, I think its something to do with the fact that she is a company sectary for her partners courier franchise and only pays herself £500 per month, therefore wont be able to get the credit? (she says)
Yeh she could I guess but would take years and years for her to save £5.5K, however as we have 2 children (7yo & 3months) she only works part time (on maternity leave now, has been since April and is getting £100 per week).
She breastfed with her first and did with our little girl for a month and has lost most of her boobs because of this. She has body issues as it is and her boobs dont help bring her mood up.0 -
I'm sorry but you will have a baby with her but won't lend her money in case you split up??????I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

If the consultant offered her finacne she should walk out and keep walking.
She needs to check for decent surgeons here http://www.baaps.org.uk/ and save up for her op ideally. If not then she should get a loan from a reputable lender.
As for whether you should sign up for her, I too am surprised you consider a loan more tying than a baby. But then, I did the old-fashioned thing and got married BEFORE living with someone and CERTAINLY before having a baby with them. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I'd say NO. Better to spend the money on some counselling and good bra's if her size bothers her extensively.
Don't implants need replacing after so many years? If so remember there will be more bills down the line. Also what if she had it done and wanted even more done, a bigger size still etc?
If she wants it that badly she needs to be the one to fund it, even if that means a loan or credit in her name.0 -
I'd be saying no too, if she waits another year the ccj should disappear shouldn't it.
No point in having a boob job done if she is still breast feeding (if she is breast feeding that is)
Why does she need/want the boob job, perhaps if she can deal with that, and start putting away £130pcm now then its money towards it, if she can't put the money away, giving excuses why she can't, then you know that loan isn't gonna get paid backLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
She might just need some time to get back into shape, boobs go through a hell of a lot during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Also having a flabby tummy and being out of shape as you are with a 3 month old her boobs will look smaller than they were before.0

Definitely no!
A boob job is a luxury and if she wants it enough she will save up for it. If you don't have the money now for this and borrow you're family will likely suffer financially over the next few years.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Sorry but why can she not get the finance herself?
SOrry but I wouldn't do it, £7.5k for a boob job!
You have a child to think about, £130pm is alot of money.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
