  • Another thumbs up for the U-Tree, also, in nearby Cullybackey, is Athenas.....bit pricey, but good food.

The chef in the U Tree was in my class at school - used to make the teacher's life a misery. :)
  • Ah MR Mc C?

Local answer to Gordon Ramsey ;D
  • You all amaze me. In my time the only restaurant eatery in Ahoghill or in Cullybackey was the Chip Shop.

If you're ever near Carrick, call into Springsteins Diner just beside Carrick castle, where the cinema is.

I've never had a bad meal there. It's an american style place and they have the best American Fried Chicken with Cajun sauce. I really can't get enough of it. Can't tell you about the sweet menu because I'm always too full after the meal! Prices are very reasonable too

    :D
I used to promote my band here...

It's basic, I wouldn't want to know the bacteria count but I just gotta keep going back to Spuds at Bradbury Place in Belfast. I started going there when I came to Belfast 11 years ago and I still go regularly. It rarely lets me down.
For cheap comfort food that you can feed to your kids without feeling like the worst parent in the world, nothing comes close to Spuds. It was founded in 1972 so it's survived the Troubles (I suspect they had 'friends' mind you!)

  • Another vote for Spuds in Belfast.

I too started going there in my student days and keep going back to it all these years later.

I've never found anywhere that beats it for some value food, even made the trek up from the city centre to it at times.

Tuna spud or a bolognese chip…decisions, decisions.
