Nothing much to update from me.
OH is still looking for her dress, the one she wanted is only available in size 12, she needs a 10. The shop is having a sale on at the moment, so shes wondering if she can spend the savings on getting it altered.
Just been trickling money into the wedding fund, the next things that need paying won't be til September so we have a nice little respite before the last crazy final months :)

  • Hi all,

Im just starting my weddin planning. Ive been engaged for about a year and a half and the dates set for sept 2011 so plenty of time yet.

To be honest im not sure where to start with it all. My bridesmaids are in various parts of Europe and my parents live at the other end of the country so its not overly easy to get people to come and look at things with me.

Im hoping to get some venues looked at over the next few months. apparently you can get them to fix the price now but im not sure how that works yet.

I dont know where to begin with budget planning! Im actually quite scared of it but my other half doesnt seem that bothered aboutplanning side side of things and expects me to just get on with it I think. Both sets of parents are happy to pay but I dont know how much and how do you break down how much it will all cost? surely it subjective depending on how creative and thrifty you manage to be.

Oops ive got myself all in a tiz! Better stop now.

Congratulations to all the newlyweds I hope you all had amazing days!
  • The great cake hunt.
I have only budgeted £50 for wedding cake and wanted just to get 3 cakes(different flavours)from asda.I decided instead to get simple sponges from a baker close to the venue, but after a taste test have ditched that idea.We told future MIL how horrible the bakers cake was and she is insisting on baking the cakes for our wedding now.I would still rather have asda cakes though,we had them for birthdays previously and they are lovely and moist.
Just about everything done or decided now and I just have to fit in as many car boot sales as possible during the summer to make the money to pay the final amounts on everything.

I made up a spreadsheet on the computer and added the cost as we went along, most places with just take an initial deposit so closer to the date you will have a better idea of the total cost.
Remember to haggle :) we got 3 quotes for flowers, then haggled with the last one and got the price down even lower.

    Good luck!

I would make a list of all the must haves ie, what kind of dress and suits, how many bridesmaids/ushers, how many ppl in day, how many ppl at night, what kind of entertainment, cars, photographer, cake ect.... then have a look online to get a rough idea of how much to spend on each thing then if the over all amount is lees than you thought it would be then make a list of extras that you would like but dont NEED and do the same with them. then approach your parents and ask what budget they had in mind...

Congrats Gatita!!! I hope you have the day of your life!!! :) xxx

You get married the day after my birthday Rebekah! :)
My dress was £1,500 - waaaaaaaaaaaay over our budget, but we decided to have it anyway as it was so perfect. We put it on a 0% interest credit card and it is currently getting cleaned ready to sell on to try and get the money to pay it off. If I don't get enough I know I don't need to worry as we have a year to save to pay it off :) Hope that helps :) xxx
