Congrats Sazzie and Mr Sazzie! How lovely of your bloke to do that. I will check that I put you on the list.
  • Congratulations Sazzie!

May 2010 hey?!? We could be wedding date twins!! :D

    xXx
  • ooo... I think I found us a field for our 'festival' wedding... far far away from residential with flushing toilets and not too big, not too small...

Just have to call them now and find out if I can entice them to let me have the field for a Fri / Sat / Sun.... instead of them running the car boot sale that they usually run on a Sunday... :D

ETA: Sazzie - congrats!!! and hello everyone!
  • Been to try on dresses today even though it's waaaay too early, but I want to know what style would suit me as I am top heavy (16 on top, with an E cup! and size 12 on bottom)

Tried on a few A line ones which looked quite nice on me, but not sure if another shape would be flattering too, anyone else got a similar figure to me?

Have to say it wasn't much fun tbh, probably cos I went on my own.
  • sazziecee, I'm an odd shape too, 10/12 on bottom, 12/14 on top as long as it's something with some give in it, I'm a GG cup now (if only Bravissimo did wedding dresses...).

I've ended up with a size 16 dress, it will need to be taken in a bit though, it's A line and has a kind of wrap effect too. It needs shortening a wee bit and I'm going to get the lady who does the alterations to use the excess fabric into some straps, I'd be very nervous without them! Plus they will break up my shoulders too.

Good luck with your dress hunting, oh, and congratulations!
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
  • Oooh can I join, it'll feeel like I've done something... I'm 15/08/2009, due to illness however my planning has been taking a back seat.

    So far I have booked

    Registrar
    Venue
    Photographer
    Videographer
    DJ

    And I've bought

2 Adult bridesmaid dresses and shoes
All invites, placenames and thankyou cards (presuming a little but hey...)

Oh, and I have 3 wedding dresses - 2 Pearce Il Fionda at Debenhams in different sizes and 1 Monsoon one (£60). Am starting to think I should have a 'proper' dress though (albeit MSE and from China - they look gorge!!!!) and stop harping on about being to old to wear one (I'll be 35 come the big day)

REALLLY need to send out save the date cards, haven't thought about rings, music, jewellry, tables, favours, flowers or anything yet, EEEEEEEEEEEEK

I'm quite excited to find this. Myself and OH have been engaged unofficially for ages, and I've had a ring for a few months. I've been a bit blase about planning at as the money is very daunting.

I've been looking around today at venues and I've realised with a bit of imagination I can keep it low but still have most of what I want (a small wedding anyway).

Still need to clarify with other half but it will either be Sept 09 or 2010.

    Quite excited now.

Don't even think about age, have the dress you want!

I'm 38 (and will be when we get married), and would have no qualms at all about wearing a proper dress. However, it's just not my "thing", so I've bought this:

It's an Alfred Angelo so a "proper" wedding dress!
  • That is a really lovely dress! I absolutely love it!
  • Wear what you want to wear - age is only a number - I am 40 and went for the full princess style and loved it. The only person who said anything about my choice of dress was my mother and I knew she would say something :p
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
