  • Please can I join? we are looking at May 2010.

My OH hasn't actually proposed, But we have discussed when we are going to get married (want plenty of time to buy things gradually and save!) and he has told me he is *going* to propose sometime soon (lol how romantic!)

I am 30 in July 2010 and want to be married before I am 30, not sure exactly why but I have always had it in my head :)

  • Hi All Brides to Be!

I am sorry to hear things aren't going so well for MS Student....have some hugs from me (()))...

But congrats to all of the new brides that have been added to the list - wow it's growing - and thanks AimeeJ for starting a new thread!

    Here is a bit on update as to where I am;

I have now paid the deposit on my venue, booked the registrar and agreed the timings for the day:

15:30 - Ceremony in Manor House

16:00 - Photos and drinks (dependant on weather either in Manor House or Gardens)

17:00 - Guests move down to Reception Suite

    17:15 - Speeches and Thank you's

17:30 - BBQ and dessert (and more drinks)

    19:00 - Evening guests arrive

    19:30 - Disco

    21:00 - Cake cutting

    11:00 - Disco ends

    12:00 - Bar closes

I have chosen my colour scheme - Black and Ivory and am searching through ebay for ideas for table decorations etc! Any ideas you all have would be gratefully recieved!

Because we are not feeding our additional evening guests, we will be providing wedding cake (hence the late cake cutting!) and a sweetie buffet...this will be double up as our favours and I am really excited about doing this bit - will be seaching through boot sales etc looking for funky vases/cake stands for the next year! I've already found black and white striped paper sweet bags on ebay...:rotfl:

I Still need to find a DJ - would really like one that is recommended, does anyone know of any one in the Hampshire area that is any good?

....And I am still contemplating whether or not to use a professional photgrapher - obviously would need to be cheap! Again has anyone got any recommendations for the Hampshire Area.

Dress for me - have not got that far yet....will go and try some on and then hopefully locate one I like on the old t'internet and the bridesmaids dresses(all 6 of them!) will be bought in the January sales....

    Thats about where I am!

    Take care, Hunny x x :p

Well if I hadn't had met my OH and known he was the ONE then I wouldn't be so bothered about marriage full stop.

But he must be the right one, cos when I was with my ex (and father of my 2 sons) I didn't want to get married cos I "didn't see the point" but now I really really do want to be a Mrs :)

Our anniversary of our first date is May 10th but that falls on a midweek day in 2010, it's on a Sunday in 2009 but my cousin gets married in August and I think it would be mean of me to "nip" in before her, plus I want to save for it and not rely on credit.

Although I have already seen a gorgeous flower girl dress for DSD and really want it but it's maybe too early to choose my colour scheme:rotfl:
  • Congrats and good luck to everyone who has been added and will be added!!
My wedding is now booked for 22nd august 2009

So far we have booked our day and night venue, which has turned out to be a great deal! My mam is making the invites etc, an uncle is making the cake, my friend is a florist!!

I have a problem though and any advice would be a great help!
I had a budget for my dress of roughly £600 but hoping i could maybe get a good deal. I wanted something really plain, simple and elegant. Then I went to a shop......... I didn't feel "special" in the simple dresses and for the money i would be paying I want to have the wow factor. So I tried on vintage dresses and fell in love with an Ian Stuart "Danube" dress. Its absolutely gorgeous and I fell in love with it, until I caught a glimpse of the price tag £1800. My OH has said if i love it that much then I should go for it. As much as I would love to, the price just really disturbs me! I've seen 2 second hand ones a size 8 for £500 and a size 12 for £700 (I'm a petite 10 so may get into a size 8 as dresses tend to be made for taller people). These second hand dresses seem fine, but not the colour, the ones for sale are ivory but the one i love is grey/silver/bluey taffeta.

What am I going to do, i've tried loads of dresses on and none of them have made me feel anywhere near the same!!

    Hiya,

I'm a little scared to and try on wedding dresses - just in case I end up I the same predicimate! I tend to have v. expensive taste..... and I think if you have your heart set on something it tends to be very difficult to find anything else if you know what I mean.

I did a little google and found a pale blue one here for £1000 (a little over your budget I know) http://www.sellmyweddingdress.co.uk/database/dress_info.php?ref=353

Lots of the ladies on here have had great success in having their dresses re-made through Landy Bridal / Milly Bridal - but I would say reading through the threads, those that have been disapointed were because they had found their 'real' dream dress and therefore the copy did not live up to their expection.

You could also pop your details on the Confetti Forums (or hitched, you and your wedding etc etc) asking if anyone has this dress and would be willing to sell.

    Good luck, Hunny x
  • I've had a look at a few different "preloved" sites and i'm still looking at 800 - 1000 without alterations etc. Its still way more than I wanted to pay!

So, I have looked at some of the "made in china" sites and have been contacting them. So far I have been quoted 170 Euros and 150 US dollars so am really considering buying from one of them!

I just need to decide on the colour too. The one i liked and tried was pale blue, but the more i thinkabout it, the more i'm not sure it'll go with the silver/grey and black colour scheme. What do you all think???

Can someone tell me the easy way to put a pic on here? I'll post a pic of my dress, but don't understand how to do it!! lol:rolleyes:
Mortgage only debt since 2013 =).... Happy days.
  • Can I join in please? We are definitely getting married in 2009, provisionaly 09/09/09 but we may yet decide to do it during the summer school holidays to make it easier for guests travelling with kids!
  • ive less than a year to go now - cant believe it!! :j
so far have got the venue booked, booked the harpist for the ceremony, got my rings (from thebeautifulcompany - fabalicious!!) and am currently having a dilemma about the dress and colour scheme for the evening do!!
im trying to grow my hair as i have a tattoo at the top of my neck that i dont want on display and also trying to get a bit more into exercise so im all slim & toned on the day!!
im having a bit of a panic about the honeymoon - we have booked our flights and only paid a deposit, but with all the providers going bust im unsure about booking the villa incase the flight provider goes bust!! eek!!

dooverylittle, i think the dress sounds lovely, and i would imagine that it would go better with your colour scheme than an ivory one? cant help you with how to put pics on - im just as useless as you lol!! :D
