Well, I am really excited now. We went to view the venue today and it is absolutely perfect. Hoorah!!! We are booking in the next two weeks so long as I can get the registrar for that date aswell, which is proving difficult as I have left countless messages for them and they still haven't returned my call. Anyone who is having a civil ceremony where they have to book the registrar seperately can you let e know how you went about it? Do I book the venue now or do I have to wait until I have booked the registrar. I really don't want to lose the date as it is completely perfect. you have to make a provisional booking with the venue (where you pay nothing they just hold that date for up to 2 weeks) during the provisional booking period this is when you book the registrar and get all the info for the venue that you need and then you pay the deposit for the venue.0

Thankyou so much JayJay. That helps a lot. I'm sure when I spoke to the venue on the phone, before we had looked round, that they said the next step was to pay the deposit. So I will ring them tomorrow and ask about provisionally booking. It was the duty manager that showed us round and he didn't really know much about booking as he leaves this up to the wedding ladies. Nevermind, I'm more excited now we could have our date tomorrow Yay Yay Yay!!!Married the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150

Thats quite alright.
Just don't pay any money to the venue until the registrar is sorted because if you can't get the registrar for the day you've booked you're basically stuck.0 -

OH & I have provisionally set a date but not told friends & family yet, just in case lack of savings gets in our way. We're mainly looking at venues and sorting out a guest list at the moment - not really making plans. I'm desperate to start, but don't want to be disappointed when our date doesn't work out.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

A quick update. I am so excited now. Have just provisionally booked the venue and the registrar for the 5th December now instead. As it is £100 cheaper for the registrar on the Saturday, yay yay yay. Now the fun of all the organising begins!
