Hello everyone - can I join please?? We are getting married on 31st July 2009 and I feel more under pressure now than I have ever done... Glad to see there is somewhere to share the experience!

So far, I have done the following:
    Booked venue & church
    My Dress
    Bridesmaids dresses
    Photographer
    Save the Dates
    Booked honeymoon

At the moment, I am trying to make my invitations... Finding it difficult to find some really nice alphabet embossing stencils for our initials, A & S - they are all too small!! :(

Hope everyone's plans are coming along nicely :)

I am just ordering the bits to make my evening invitations now that I have a design in mind. Once that is done I can make the matching name cards and seating plan too :)

I am struggling with lingerie and shoes though.

I need a strapless bra (preferably in ivory and if possible with a little bit of black in it)
Problem is I can find quite a few but they are not at all pretty... :(

And I can picture the shoes I would like but designed them in my head so don't think I will get any like them lol.
I would like them ivory with black lace pattern...not too high a heel and not too pointy a toe.

Gosh I am soooo fussy, no wonder it has took me so long to get organised!!
Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions at all?

Oh also we have picked our cake which my mum-in-law (to be) is making so I just need to order the topper - seen one on Ebay I like.
And at weekend will order buttonholes for men and corsages for ladies :)

I still don't have a hairdresser, and the wedding is two weeks tomorrow.

My local hairdresser said she'd do it at the salon at 9am, but I need to leave the house at 10:15-10:30 and it takes half an hour to put the dress on. So I cancelled it, whereupon my mother made an appointment for me for the same time with a hairdresser who's further away.

    I'm going to cry.

Please don't panic sugarspun. Ring round the local hairdressers and mobile ones and see if they will open up slightly earlier.

Oh Sugarspun, I hope you get it sorted huni! I'm sure you will!!! xxx

I am starting to get excited now that the big day is getting close!

Today I have arranged our travel insurance.
We have our transport booked already.

Chapel is already booked and deposit paid.

Also ordered a dress mum liked for the big day.
AND I found a strapless bra and shorts (I hate thongs!) lol and shoes in a catalogue!
Just hope I like them when they come!

Fiance's suit ordered, just jacket and trousers though.

I have just ordered the corsages for our mums and sister and buttonholes for dads and sisters partner from Ebay.

I also just bought some cards and envelopes from Ebay ready to make invitations.

    Sooooo
I am tired now, but next things on to do list are:

    * Make final decision about after wedding meal and show and book up.
    * Purchase black card, ivory paper roses and black diamantes to make invitations
    * Decide on final makeup and hair for big day

    :)

Done most things, got a week off coming up to 'blitz things' as I find having a full time job you seem never to have time to do it!

    Still to do:

    Cake
    Entertainment for the evening
    Groom's suits
    Hotel for 1st night
    Hair/Make up
    Tiara, veil, jewellery etc
    Rings
Invites - when should you send them out? people have been warned!!

Good luck to everyone and hope you have a great day. :j:j:j

Invites are usually sent out about 8-12 weeks before. You are doing well with your planning! Much better than me!

  • OK thanks for that, just put reminders on my phone. Currently working through my spreadsheet of things to do, don't know how I'd cope without lists!

  • Congratulations to all the new brides! Sugarspun, hope your search for a hairdresser is going well.

Things all seem to be happening with us! We sent our invites out the other week, pretty early but there's a major rugby match the same day as the wedding in Edinburgh so hotel space is filling up. Getting RSVPs coming through, exciting!

    We've also:
    - met the caterers to decide on a menu
    - been to our venue to measure up for decorations and go over the day with the manager
    - started arranging my Yorkshire hen lunch (any recommendations for somewhere to eat in Leeds city centre that isn't a chain?) and going on a recce to a nice tea shop to see if it can do afternoon tea for my Edinburgh hen do.
    - not far off finishing knitting my wedding shawl
    - got the music playlists down to a manageable amount
    - just got some ribbon for 50p in a charity shop to make bunting with
    - taken my dress to a dressmaker for alterations.

Next jobs are writing the ceremony and getting my shoes and underwear.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
