Hello all, can I join too? :)

We were engaged on June 28th 2008 (near the eiffel tower!), and are getting married June 26th 2010 and I'm so excited!

We have booked the church, the lovely St. Peter's in Doddington, Lincoln, and today we looked around our soon-to-be-booked reception venue :)

Trying to keep things on a budget, doing as much DIY as possible (invitations, centrepieces etc.) as we are also hoping to purchase a house in time for the big day, which is where we will hopefully spend our first night of married life!

It's great to hear how everyone is getting on with their planning, good luck to everyone, and all the best :) x

Congratulations and welcome 2010 girls. Of course we will pass on our tips!

Can I just suggest not putting too many details about reception venues, etc as some girls on other wedding sites have had their bookings maliciously cancelled.

My wedding is a month today! I'm excited, nervous and stressed all at once!

Still got to find bridesmaid shoes (anyone seen any - looking for ivory, round toe, no bows, around £25, with a heel but not too high - Next have the perfect ones on their website but no stock to be found), get all the music together for the disco (doing it on an ipod), table decorations, bridesmaid/best man gifts, and quite a few other bits and bobs to get done.

So glad that I have two weeks between the wedding and going away, or I'd be tearing my hair out trying to get all that sorted too!

Going for a bit of a hen weekend this weekend, me, my mum and 2 bridesmaids are going to stay with my other bridesmaid in Birmingham and have a girly weekend. Then my main hen night is 2 weeks after, then another 2 weeks and it's the wedding - it's going to come round sooooooo quick!!

Oh my goodness! The 2009 weddings are happening!! Hehehe. It's crazy, this month is going to go SO quickly! We have 4 months to go on Thursday, and I just can't believe how quickly it's gone already....

I hope everything is coming together nicely now and that you have fun hen nights! 2, you lucky girl :D

Well, I think I have to drop a bridesmaid, I have been trying to get her over for a fitting for 2 months and she promised she'd come yesterday (like the millionth time she's "promised") but, suprise suprise, she didn't turn up - no call, message to let me know, or an apology. I've already been more lenient that I wanted to be, purely as I really want her to be B/M.....but then sat eve I found out from her sis that she doesn't even LIKE my fiance!!!! That's news to me! Especially as she was loving all the free booze at the engagement party..... GRRRRR!! Had my rant now :o
  • Hi everyone,

we are getting married on 6th December 2009. Its a traditional indian wedding with civil ceremony and reception all on the same day at a country manor hotel... 200 guests and we're paying for it ourselves. If you are indian you will know what I mean when I say its an uphill struggle with the families and trying to plan the day of YOUR dreams! I am sure I will be on here lots as there are loads of useful tips.

if anyone has a good indian caterer in the midlands i'd be interested to hear

    Happy planning everyone!

Snugglepants, sounds stressful, you poor thing! You want your bridesmaid's to be excited about your wedding and help, not hinder. I'm lucky that one of my bridesmaid's is as excited as I am and she has been a fantastic help. I would ditch the one you're having problems with, you've got enough to organise without having to chase her around! Maybe have a chat to her and tell her you get the impression that she just isn't that bothered about doing it, and that you will need her support if she is a b/m, so if she would rather not do it then you would rather know now. Then either she'll say she really wants to do it and buck her ideas up (but make sure she knows it's last chance!) or you'll get to drop her with her thinking it is her decision so hopefully no hard feelings....

Mine's 2 weeks on Friday now!! Have sorted most stuff now, found some bridesmaid shoes in Debenhams in Birmingham (although they are pretty high heels and one of them has never worn heels so is gonna have to do some practising!!). Disco is coming together - it's been very traumatic having to cut songs down to get it to the right length!! I don't know how I'm going to talk to everyone as I'm just going to want to dance to everything!

My to do list is shrinking and I've now split it between now, 2 weeks before, final week, so the stuff on the other lists I can just ignore for now - makes it much more manageable than one big list, so I'm stressing a lot less now! H2B's aunt and uncle arrive from Australia early next week so want to get most stuff out of the way by then so we can start relaxing and see them as they're only here for 2 weeks.

Had a really good weekend in Birmingham and am looking forward to the big one in York this weekend, 35 of us going for a meal and then out drinking so should be fun (just hoping there are no tacky surprises awaiting me!).

    Am getting so excited now!!!

25 days to go ... I just booked our flights over for the ceremony and they were hellishly more expensive than I'd anticipated. €287 each!!!

Still, everything is done but my beloved's suit, and he is under strict instructions not to come home today until it is done. RSVPs flooding in most conveniently and I have only to decide whether I have time to go to the hairdressers as soon as they open (at 9am, have to leave for the wedding at 10:30 at the very latest) or if I can find someone to do my hair at home for me for around the 20 quid the shop want to charge me.
Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
    Three gifts left to buy
  • *starla* - thanks for the support :) I have done all of that last time she didn't show, said I'm stressing because of her and that I shouldn't be about a blooming dress fitting. I have no older b/m's who are really excited - my sis is the eldest and she's not been enthusiastic (bit peeved i'm marrying before her i think) and she's now having big probs with her OH.....but she's at least done the dress fitting! I am def not having my "friend" as a BM as I'm basically planning the whole thing myself (with DF's help of course, but you know what I mean, all the little details!) and I cannot do with her making me stressed - I'm either just going to stick with the 4 I have left or ask another friend who I am sure would be over the moon and would actually want to help me plan and stuff. (The BM who has let me down is meant to be my closest friend and was joint maid of honour with sis - neither fits the bill in way of helping or wanting to be a part of it all) Aaaaah the things we have to put up with just to make our day arguement free hehehe.

Oh my goodness, TWO WEEKS!!! You must be all over the place lol. How exciting :D Glad everything's been going well, and I hope it continues to. Ah that's lovely about his family coming over from Oz - NONE of mine over there were able to come....bad timing :(

Haha I'm sure there WILL be tacky suprises!!
