hi can you tell me if i still need to send my childrens birth cert with there application if they have previously been included on my passport.
my passports just run out and need to get my 3 kids their own now.
  • The Passport Office will want all their I.D. as they haven't had a passport of their own before. Have a good read of the information in the passport pack but basically each will need 2 photos (eyes open, mouth shut and head level. See info in pack) and long birth certificate (the one with parents details on).

All the applications (including your own) will need to go in the same envelope as the passport office needs to see your passport to process all the applications.

    Hi jammybunn
If a first passport is applied for and there is a problem with paperwork or photo would they then look for the increased fee to be paid instead ?

once the application has been set up at the initial fee, no surcharge will be requested

I applied online 10 days ago, but now they've sent me the pre-filled form with the price list saying it's £51?

Can I still get the cheaper price if I go to the post office tomorrow?

yes, grace period till the 3rd with postal apps
  • Hi

Just phoned the helpline regarding grace period and whether i'd have to pay the old or new price if i posted it and the issue office received it by the 3rd - he was sure that i would have to pay the new price - prices go up tonight at midnight and any received after that will be charged at £51 was his reason.

I even said - if i go to the issue office (liverpool is a bit of a trek and a hassle to get to today but it's possible) but even then he said no can't do that.

    Am a bit confused now.

My first hope would be to send the forms in today (recorded delivery) so the office gets them tomorrow - and should receive them by the 3rd at the latest.

Otherwise i would have to go to the passport office - but dont want a wasted trip - i thought i would have been able to just hand the form in, i dont need a passport otday or in a week though.

Or, just thought, i could go to a Post Office partner, but dont know if that is ok?
  • Been to a post office that deals with the processing of the ppt forms - i.e. check and send - and they said if i do it today it should be fine for the old price.

I asked about not needing it checked but they said i had to pay the £7 fee otherwise i would get charded the raised price rate. Though the fee does include guaranteed postage for the next day so i may as well go with that.
  • I sent off for my new passport last week and I got it today, amazingly quick. Still too late as I wanted it for Saturday for a free trip to New York, gutted !
