Hi
Big thanks to josey1964 for this thread; sent my renewal, along with that of my son's yesterday (as he was still on my passport). Sent recorded delivery, and just checked on RMs website, and it's been signed for today at Newport, so if I don't get them at the old rate, I do have the proof that it arrived on 30th November.
I think this should be a candidate for post of the month as I'll have saved £18 on the two applications, along with (by the sounds of it) alot of you have managed too as well.
Also thanks to jammybunn, who has been extremely helpful throughout this thread, but is now probably completely snowed under with renewals and new applications!0 -
dont worry bout me fuzzy,im just glad that having learnt so much from this board i was finally able to contribute, as for the grace period- they arent allowed to advertise it as its a secret but we (at lpool) have been told that if its recvd by the 3rd then its ok. If the post office told you to pay £7 check and send or the fee would be £51 then they lie and you should have a go at them, when we receive it on say the 3rd dec, either by normal or check & send, the fee would still be accepted as £420

Aah pooh, have been away (hosp), just read this, still have an old form that says the old rate, wonder if that might swing it my way?0

jammybunn (or anyone else!) -
When you say received by the 3rd, what is the last post acceptable, is it last post received on 2nd or 3rd or neither?
Are you able to hand completed forms in to your Passport Office?

How did you "check on RM's website"? What methods of sending can be checked?Torgwen.....................

Does anyone know the deal with travelling on a passport that expires in less than 6 months?
I've seen various things which say ensure you have a passport has longer than 6 months to run.
I have a machine readable one and often have to travel to the States on business. I'd rather not renew until February when the new passports come out (mine runs out in May 2006).
Will I have any problems travelling with this passport that runs out in May?
thanksWaddle you do eh?0 -

I assume - though I may be wrong - that because it was sent recorded delivery Fuzzy entered the recorded delivery number on the site which then tells you the status of the item0 -
Yup that's right alleycat, sent it via recorded delivery, checked the number on Royal Mail's site, made a print out of the result, just in case.
I doubt there will be any problem as jammybunn has said there is a period of grace.0 -
I requested the forms from the passport office site last thursday. Surprisingly they still have not arrived. I guess I've missed the boat.0

ive just had a letter back saying that my photos were too light.
Thing is, to be on the safe side, i paid £3.50 at a local morrisons as i didnt want to chance any problems.
Now i have to re submit more.
Just goes to show, that even the photo booths cant get it right.
Steer clear of the Morrisons in walderslade near chatham kent.0
