    I've been Money Tipped!
I went to PO to renew mine Monday and was told the photo was no good as the very top of my hair was not in photo!!! I actually have a spiky hairdo so that's why. But PO would not accept them. Yesterday had photos taken at photographers and went back to PO. The woman behind the counter said she still wasn't sure the photos were acceptable!!. She showed me the measuring thingy and my chin was on the bottom line so how on earth could they get any more of my hair in? Anyway she sent it off but warned me I may well get it back!!!

She told me they are so strict now - you musn't have even a hint of a smile, your face must fit in a measured area, your eyes must be showing even if you were glasses, there must be no reflection of the glasses etc etc. She reckons they reject an awful lot

Passports arrived today, the application having arrived at the Passport Office on Nov 30th, got them renewed at the old prices, and very fast too! Excellent service, please let the Newport office know I'm very impressed!

Re photo issues, try and find a newer photo booth that displays an oval on the screen in front of you. You just them have to make sure you whole face is just inside it. Worked 1st time for me and I avoided paying the increased price.

  • Thankyou so much to the poster, and also all the moneysavers for their advice. I posted my 6yr old son's off week last tues, and received his new passport yesterday. My god, how quick was that. Very impressed. Passport would have needed renewing in april, so by doing it now, saved myself £6 and they also added the 4 months extra he had left, onto new passport.

Well Done to the team at Liverpool Passport Office, Thankyou for a fab service.
if you cant have what you want, be grateful for what you have :T

    Pickle number 3 arrived 24th december 2007 :A
  • I think I may have missed the boat on this according to the Royal Mail, my application was received on Saturday 3rd December, I have just been charged £34 for a new baby passport as opposed to the £25 that I authorised on the payment form...do I recall that they were giving a grace period until the 4th December? Not in my case!
  • I have been charged the higher prices for three even though I have proof of recorded delivery that they received it on 1/12. They just charged my CC the higher amount! I called and they said I would receive a refund - dont know when though. They asid they opened on the 6th hence charging me the higher price!!
  • Just got DD`s new ten year passport but the old one has not been returned. Is this new policy. Used to get the old one with the corner cut off. She is a bit disappointed as she has got quite a few stamps and visa entries from places she have been too.

Well, my photo saga continues. Having had the post office refuse my photos taken in a booth I had more photos taken in a camera shop. Post office sent form off on 30th November. Hubby got his new passport on Monday and today I get a letter from the passport office saying my photos are not acceptable because they are too light and my expression is not neutral!!!!!

I am not smiling or anything so what the hell are they talking about?? Also it is obviously not down to me that the photo is too light. So have to go to town again this afternoon to get 3rd set of photos done. Am hoping the camera shop will redo them free of charge or at least cheaper but am not holding my breath.

I am not happy that it has taken 2 weeks for the passport office to write and also that OH got his passport back before they let me know my photos were no good. Just as well we are not going away any time soon!!!
