I hope that she is still available when we ring up on wednesday, we wanted to visit her last weekend but the foster people were busy, someone has already been to see her so thats why we are waiting till wednesday and then if she is still available we will go and visit her by ourselves on friday and then if im ok with Milly we will take the children up on saturday to visit her. I know my son will be over the moon because he has driven me mad all weekend about having a dog. I nearly caved in a said yes we are looking, but I held back cos i know if Milly is ok then he will be so excited.

Just to add someone mentioned border terriers are non allergenic - NO WAY - my rescue border, most wonderful boy in the world but I have to wipe him with allergy wipes before one of my sons visits and son takes piriton before he comes.

If Milly doesnt work out, All Breeds site trawl rescues all over the web and list dogs by breed that need rehoming:

  • I didnt realise that you could get allergy wipes, thats a good idea. Will have a look at that website thanks, and thanks for the info about border terriers

Oh yes, you can get the wipes from pet shops - I buy them on line usually. They are like big baby wipes, you rub them all over the dog before an allergy type person visits :) I have also found that people tend to react more to male dogs than females if they have allergies.

So do they actually work on your son? This is a really good idea. some dogs im allergic to and some im ok with. Hence the reason for the poodle cross.

I met a weimerdoodle a couple of weeks ago - I would imagine a visladoodle wouls be similar - it was quite leggy and almost as tall as my mums lurcher-ish dog... do you know if all these 'doodle' types are standard poodle x's? do any use the toy poodles??
Milly looks small and chunky so I wondered??

Most Labradoodles are from Standard Poodle crosses, but Cockerpoos and the other smaller 'doodles' may well be from a Toy Poodle cross. More and more doodles breeders are breeding the mini sizes because they fit today's smaller homes better.I wish I hadn't seen Fudge's picture - he is a golden version of my Doodle!
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • oh, good luck minimacka!!! :j - she does look lovely and it goes to show that the right sorts of dogs are often out there in rescue if you look hard enough!!

Even if Milly is not for you, or gets snapped up by someone else I am sure there will be other equally lovely dogs out there in rescue - sadly new ones come in all the time:cry: (and even more so at the moment with the so called credit-crunch)
  • I'm glad to see that you are going to adopt a needy dog (hopefully!)

a million times better than supporting a so-called "breeder" (no good breeder would be breeding "designer" dogs!)
