Music Magpie: new quick way to sell unwanted CDs

Offering much less for many CD titles now. Just tried quite a few barcodess for items I've traded with them in the past and they are now offering 30p for items they were paying me £2 and £3 for not that long ago. A few items had gone up by a few pence, but generally found they were paying out much less than a few months ago. I'm talking fairly rare or obscure titles so they can't have had that many offered to them since buying mine. Classical stuff prices have really nosedived! Maybe they don't sell as well as other types of music?
Could it possibly have something to do with the demise of Turn Into Cash Limited? Less competition so they can pay what they like. Tried Zapper but their prices are truly dire - that is when they accept them which isn't that often! Looks as though more of my CDs will be going on ebay instead.0 -
I sent a load of my sons dvds to m.m on 11 June as they didn't sell on ebay and i'm still waiting to be paid, iv'e emailed them but had no reply, i won't be using them again :mad:0

Communication is often difficult with these sort of companies - TIC were the same. Music Magpie do usually answer emails to be fair, although it is virtually impossible to actually speak to someone there.0 -
A few months ago I spent ages entering barcodes for CDs that I no longer play. Was rather disappointed with the low prices offered by Music Magpie, so instead I listed quite a few on Amazon. It pays to be patient with Amazon, I've gradually sold quite a few CDs and you can set your own price, judging by what other people are selling the same item for. Even if yours is not quite the lowest price, be patient because sooner or later it will sell.
It helps if you have slightly unusual CDs rather than current chart stuff as they seem to go for higher prices. Lots of more "common" albums are being sold for a few pence so it's hardly worthwhile advertising them, packaging and spending your time at the post office!0 -
I am having 35 of my old DVDs collected next week. I've been offered £18 for them. It's not much for 35 but it's £18 I didn't have yesterday. Besides which I tried and failed to sell them at a car boot for £1 each (though that might say more about the prospective buyers at the car boot!)0

They are sending out a lot more emails (so far 5 for 1 order) than they used to (2 - one when they receive the goods, the other when the cheque is in the post).
Which is nice to know I guess, although do I really need to know when the payment amount has been authorised and been sent to the printers, followed by another email a few hours later saying it's been printed, and then another one saying it's in the post?0 -
I've used them 8 times for around 100 cds/dvds each time, all good until the last transaction where after a month I'd heard nothing except for an email confirming the package had arrived at their warehouse. I emailed asking if everything was OK, to be informed that approx 40 titles were missing...I'd taken a photo of the package before sealing for dispatch, I emailed back the photo in which all the missing items could easily be seen.
I'm awaiting a reply - this will be my last trade with MM.
Magpie is so apt............buy your CDs for 30p and sell them for 700% profit through eStocks on eBay!0 -
Guys just tried this for the first time when I read the FAQs it said no more than 100 discs per box but when I just got the welcome pack it said no more than 30. Anyone know which it is?0

I have a stack of CDs to get rid of...do you have to type in each individual bar code?I love being a non smoker (almost 5 years)
I love being frugal
I love being debt free and have NSD0 -
Most of the time you get what they offer, unless the CD is unplayable/
Is it just me or has the average price they offer gone down recently?
I reckon in a few months they will move away from sending cheques out and instead pay by BACS payment as it will probably be cheaper for them, also ditching Royal Mail completely for that "collect plus" courier service
Selling some old worthless CDs on Magpie tonight and I have noticed the option for Bank Transfer is on there now. Give it another couple months and I bet the cheque option disappears.
Which can only be a good thing, money go straight into the bank account instead of waiting a week for the cheque to come in the post then trying to get to a branch of the bank to put a cheque in.0
