I looked at this lot back in the early summer and the amounts offered were poor. I was also put off by the poor reports from this forum and decided to avoid. If you are happy to wait for the cash then amazon or ebay may work. I sold something on eBay for five pound and magpie wanted to give me 40 pence..

Please be very careful when using Music Magpie, their terms and conditions are punitive in the extreme and from my own experience they seem to reject a CD for any number of reasons but their most common reason, in my case appeared to be 'Art Work' There are no explanations given unless you challenge them and then an email that just states 'Art Work' see our Terms and Conditions. Always keep in mind they will not pay you if they deem the item, in their opinion, to be sub standard and will not return said items. I have to say I found it strange indeed that they had, at a later date, the exact US import album I had tried to sell them, their offer £.0.20 and which was rejected due to 'Art Work' up for sale for 18 times that? How many people know and sell the exact same Marlene Ver Plank jazz album in this country to Music Magpie? I also had a total of £5.34 deducted from the agreed price. Covers shipping costs or am I just paranoid? Use E-Bay would be my advise, at least you are then in control and not this shower. :)
  • highly unprofessional - left a large box of CDs outside apartment for them to pick up. courier never showed up, CDs were stolen over night, resulting in signifcant financial damage.
musicmagpie refusing any responsibility and blaming 3rd party.

    Really?

Listen, you're in charge of managing your contractors and are responsible for their businss conduct.

musicmagpie, highly unprofessional and unreliable, not a serious business counterparty.
My advice to all reading this - stay away from them!

Couldn't have been easier. I downloaded the free app then scanned in all my cds, i got a really decent price and postage was free too not to mention the price is guaranteed. Would definitely recommend if you need some extra cash for crimbo!

I ran out of time to do a trade with Zapper (minus 6 items they didn't want) so tried MM again. They accepted everything I had and offered a good price. £2 odd cash back has tracked.
Courier collected on a Friday and the following Friday had an email to say they have received the items. Order progress under my account is blank though so will wait and see when the cheque gets here.

I know people seem to have gripes with MM but i have used them a few times and everything has always gone smoothly. I usually check all booklets etc are included before i send off and that items are clean. i always check Ebay as well to see what price items are and if they are selling i think you should also factor in the time saved by not online auctioning, packing and posting too so often for the sake of an extra 20p i get rid to MM.

I think their prices fluctuate too as i am getting more for a game this time than when i priced it in the summer and more than it is going for on ebay for buy it now.

However I am just debating about sending some clothing i havent done this before only sent DVDs Games and CDS in the past.

Does anyone else have an experience of clothing? these items are in excellent condition but may not necessarily make more on Ebay after charges and adding on postage etc makes things less of a bargain on ebay these days.

But a couple of quid a jumper seems ok for something not getting worn.

    Thanks

  • I used Music Magpie for the first time recently, 146 items of quality CDs and DVDs sent for a listed price of £98.40p.

3 weeks later they tell me only £84 will be paid (this is the con) I have still have NOT received any payment from them even though I have an email saying payment sent! It has taken 4 weeks for them to "quality check", tell me the the payment is reduced (was warned!) then wait for my cash which apparently has been sent to my account all verified of course!

Advice, use another site Magpie are actually what the name suggests "THIEVING MAGPIES" please do not risk, you will wait forever and get a reduced amount because they will say something is below standard, and always the best price offer stuff!

I found musicMagpie a really simple process and gave me some much needed money. Will use again, I've got a load of the kids clothes to get rid of. Perfect! :j

Bet you £1 that £2 odd cash-back will be declined (but paid on raising a claim) ;)

You might get lucky and get a cheque before Christmas, depends how busy they are.
