Their skins go a bit soggy but I've done this with leftover jackets.

I have cooked my jacket spuds that I am having tomorrow as I had the oven on but has anyone tried freezing them so I could do a bigger batch and defrost as and when required??

    Many thanks :D
I do it successfully with smoked mackerel, horseradish, etc and if you put them back in the oven they soon crisp up again.

I just ate shop bought, frozen, pre-baked jacket potatoes for tea so i don't see any reason why they can't be baked from fresh at home and then frozen.

  • No salt available anywhere locally because everyone's been salting their drives and everywhere has sold out.

Does anyone know how to make bread without salt?!

there is a salt substitute on sale called lo salt, i saw an advert on tv for it last night, maybe the supermarket would have that left?

Just be aware that Lo-Salt is not suitable for everyone: there are some medical conditions for which it is not recommended, so do check the packaging.

But I'm with the 'try without' brigade!

  • Thanks all.

re left over jackets. They make good potato salad, chopped up with a bit of mayo on and some black pepper.

Hi, Just a quick question on making a cake.

I want to make this http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3092/ultimate-chocolate-cake as part of my boyfriends valentines day gift, I'll do it in a heart shaped tin.

The thing is I want to make the cake slightly alchoholic, I thought it might taste good if I added some baileys. Would it work if i just added a bit to the mixture and baked it for a bit longer or would I have to alter the quantities? I also thought about maybe making some baileys flavoured buttercream to go in the middle instead of the ganache and just using the ganache on the outside.

    Any ideas? Thank you!

I have a sick child so I can't go out & lots of washing to do... but I've run out of fabric conditioner almost (about 1 loads worth left and I've already watered it down alot!), I have no white vinegar, any ideas of something else I can use?

Just do it without fabric conditioner? I never use it and the clothes seem soft enough. The only difference it seems to make is to get towels fluffier...and also less absorbent.
