Hello, siily question alert!
Can I use normal long grain rice to make a rice pudding with? Have bought a different brand than usual and it comes out very very sloppy and disintegratey, never had this problem before as I make cracking boiled rice normally!
so rather than waste it can I use it for a rice pud
Yep!
I even use previously cooked long grain rice to make pud with. While you can add milk/cream to make a rice pud - just heat up and warm thoroughly... I find that the best way is to make "ground rice".
When cool - add a good splash of milk (and cream?) to your rice and pop it into a liquidiser. Give it a good whizz... if the result is very thick then just add a splash of milk until you get the consistency you want. Reheat (in the microwave for pref) and serve with a dollop of jam in the middle.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Anyone got a marmalade recipe that uses ordinary oranges rather than Sevilles? I bought 3 bags of oranges in the whoopsie section last night for 20p a bag. I've got three lemons in the bowl needing used up & plenty of sugar....Val.0

Jopsey I am going to make chocolate stirring spoons to go on a coffee hamper for my daughter to make homemade mocha - just melt it and dip the spoons in, leave to set - thinking a fast blast in freezer? - then dip again and so on and so on... or my other idea was to fill a small washed out lid from something and pour the choc in that and leave spoon in to set. I have some wee measuring cup type things that might suffice, or mini silicon muffin cases.Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!
