Is he teetotal for a reason? ie religious / addiction? You don't have to answer that, but if it's on religious grounds I wouldn't, and if it's addiction, I'd ask. DH (who works with addicts) confirms that although the alcohol burns off, some would not want alcohol to have been added at all. And again, whether it's addiction or religious, some would prefer not to have any alcohol in the house at any time.
If it's just personal preference that he doesn't drink, then ask.
Actually, what it boils down to is asking him! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Cheer's Savvy
It is personal choice. He felt he was drinking too much during the week at home ie; that glass of G&T when he sat down at night became two etc. Then he found he was pouring himself a glass earlier and earlier and when he occasionaly went out he found he had no stop button. So he took himself in hand and decided enough was enough and has gone tea total. So he is a cheap date
Just asked him and he says he would prefer I didn't but he did admit most of the alcohol would be burned off during the cooking process. So has left it to my discretion. Looking at the expression on his face, I think I won't.
So that puts ChocClaires Chinese Chicken off the menuBSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
i just checked the recipe , and i would give it a go using white wine vinegar and cross my fingers! Choclare? any thoughts?! maybe pm her and see if it would work but i wouldn't give up on it entirely. You may even be able to use stock .....*thinks*A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Mind you I'd quite happily try it with a thin stock too, or even water but not as much, there'll be plenty of flavour in the other ingredients. Or water with Chinese Five Spice and ditch the mustard? But then I'm not a huge mustard fan ... And I am congenitally incapable of following a recipe!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Fill your boots my darling!
Bananas going black
freezing bananas
banana glut
and of course not forgetting the b anana curry pizza thread - not sure if they ever found the recipe!
Cardamon pods - if you've ever had pilau rice they were probably behind the destinct flavour. They are pods, or you can buy the seeds on their own (which come from inside the pod)A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Soggy Toad in the Hole Query
Last night I attempted Toad in the Hole, the sausages were fairly good ones, the batter had the right consistency but after cooking was soggy in the middle.
It rose fine and looked rather impressive but the outside was crispy and the middle soggy. Is there an obvious issue here, my guess is that the tin I used was too small for the amount of yorkshire pudding batter I put in.
Any tips would be good, thanks :beer:Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0
