Brown will be fine if you have it :)
So is vinegar the thing to use? I don't want my chain 'eaten'!

It won't eat gold. If there are parts that are not gold then I'd definitely avoid using vinegar. :)

Edit: To be sure, could you drape the bracelet over the side of a glass in such a way as to sink a small portion into the vinegar? If that comes out OK you should be fine.

    Hello!

I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable peeps on here could help me?

I have a few jars of clear honey and they have all gone hard and sort of sugary set.

I like it drizzled over cereal but you can't when it's set like that. I can just about get a spoon in it!!

I have previously tried soaking the jar in warm water which did melt it slightly but it just went hard again?

Any ideas how to solve this or how to store it to prevent it going hard in the first place?

    Thanks

Before the cold spell, I had bought 4 jars of sainsburys 61p honey. Mine was exactly the same. Warm water just didn't work effectively enough. I trudged back to sainsburys without a receipt and the exchanged them without a quibble! If it is a shops own brand, ask for an exchange!

Anyway, to cut to the question, having sat in the bilge from the washing machine for almost 6 years, unsurprisingly my chain and heart seems to have lost some of its shine.

How can I restore it to its former glory? I've left it in some clean water for the moment ... but should it be vinegar? I'm all out of white vinegar too ...

If it's real gold, then a good polish with a soft cloth should be all it needs :) Gold is used for jewellery as it's an unreactive/inert metal and doesn;t tarnish.

How about giving it a long soak in water with a drop of bio washing stuff? That should eat all the soapy gunk and stuff but won't be capable of damaging metal.

I opted for this, it doesn't look a lot different but at least I know any gunk should have been eaten by the bio stuff.

It must be my memory at fault! The heart is smaller and thinner than I remember, and the chain is much darker than I remember. Daft thing is, I have declined several offers to replace it because the heart wasn't right, but now I see the heart again it's just like some of those I declined!

Oh, and having fixed the 'falling through the floor' problem, we realised the door seal was shot, so the machine was now leaking from the front. Fortunately The Practical Chap fixed that once I'd ordered a new door seal!

Have you given it a buff with a soft cloth? Might shine it up a bit.

I've buffed the heart, and yes, that helps shine it a bit. Tricky to buff the chain however!

  • Hi all

We really like garlic bread, and one of my targets this year is to make a garlic bread that we like rather than buying a ready made one.
I've tried foccacia (sp) and dough balls, and although nice they were not did not really have the 'wow' I was looking for. I think it is the oily garlicky taste that I really miss from the HM ones - the ones I made were drier rather than gooey. We are having aubergine and nut tagliatelli for tea tomorrow and I would really like to have some bread with it, what HM bread would you all make to go with it - preferably using the Panasonic BM that we have.

    Cheers
