Right, can anyone advise how they think this cake will hold up without the cocoa powder? Just as a plain sponge rather than chocolate?

i was going to add a teaspoon of ginger, and line it with rhubarb and ginger jam, and mascarapone cream. Have i been watching too many cookery programmes?:p:o

I would think so, it's only a fatless sponge type cake/swiss roll isn't it?

yeah - fatless flourless sponge! Its so light and fluffy which is why i want to use this recipe particularly. However i wasn't sure if the cocoa would give it a cake texture - am i making sense? So you think it would be ok without the cocoa? :)

I have just realised that my "stored" olive oil looks lumpy in the bottle (unopened). Can this be used or shall I chuck it out?

    Thank you

The olive oil has probably just got a bit cold - put it in a warm place and it should clear. HTH

It's been a Bad News / Good News kind of day.

Bad News is that my washing machine is falling through the utility room floor. It's been going for some time and I probably should have noticed sooner, because the dispenser drawer seemed to be harder to reach under the worktop as it slid backwards.

Good News is that The Practical Chap was home to take a look for me.

Bad News is that the waste pipe was blocked and clearly has been leaking for some considerable time.

Good News is that in clearing the waste pipe, he found my gold chain and heart which I lost nearly 6 years ago. :j:j:j:j:j I went into hospital, took it off and gave it to DH, he left it in his shirt pocket, DS3 did the laundry without checking pockets, and there you go. The bracelet lost in the same way surfaced soon after, but the necklace seemed gone for good.

Anyway, to cut to the question, having sat in the bilge from the washing machine for almost 6 years, unsurprisingly my chain and heart seems to have lost some of its shine.

How can I restore it to its former glory? I've left it in some clean water for the moment ... but should it be vinegar? I'm all out of white vinegar too ...
