  • Hi flutterbyuk,

I think of a portion of soup as a bowl. Our soup bowls hold roughly 300mls. However, if we're having soup as a main meal with bread or sandwiches etc we would probably have two bowls each.

Thanks Pink! Just wanted to check I wasn't being greedy!! :rotfl: I don't tend to have bread with mine most of the time.

I want to make the above recipe for hubby and son for xmas, never heard of liquid smoke before.
Googled it and came up with
    http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-liquid-smoke.htm

I'm guessing it gives it a smokey flavour.
Can I buy it in the UK? or do you think I could make it without it?

I've never heard of it either and never seen it at any specialist food stores or markets (and I've been to a fair few!) but I'm guessing it would not be the same recipe without the smokey flavour however I have seen both smoked salt and smoked fresh garlic and you could probably get away with replacing either the salt or the garlic powder with fresh smoked garlic, or poss both? to get a similar effect. I've seen both for sale but at local farmers markets and independent delis so not much use to tell you where unless you're in the dales! but I expect google would come up with more useful answers for local suppliers closer to you.

There will be a few places that you can find it - even Amazon have it...

Maybe it could be a sticky for a couple of weeks :)
  • I love Roka Cheese Crispies, but they cost a ridiculous amount. Does anyone have a recipe that would produce something similar? Puff pastry with cheese layered inside is too flaky and greasy, and ordinary shortcrust dosn't come out right either.

Can anyone help me find a thread where someone had made truffles using Oreo biscuits. Think they may have been made for a wedding but can't find the thread and wanted to have a go at making them now that I have bought a couple of packs of Oreos.

Could it be this one? There is a link to another recipe site in the post.
