Ok. If you look up top right ish of the page you will see a link that says indexed collections. Click that and you will see a whole load of sub menus. I could link you but there are so many! Have a browse there and you will be there for hours!

ok so i'm new,,have been reading past few days onhow to feed a family for 20£ and other things,,and i have been writing down recepes franticly and now cant read my own writing:rolleyes: so,,question is,,is there anywhere that i can just find these receipes all together,,oh i used lentils for the very first time today,,great for bulking up my shepeherds pie,,thanks so much!!!

    Welcome yummy.

What I do is open Wordpad or notepad, depending on which computer I'm using, and simply copy and paste all the recipes that interest me. The plan is that eventually I will file and sort them all into a virtual recipe folder of some sort, but for now I just have two huge documents. Or else I search as Zippy said. My favourite places to find recipes are the Grocery Challenge, the Recipe Thread and Weezl's thread.

I copy and paste into a Word Document and then 'Save As' into a 'desktop folder' that I've created called 'My Favourite Recipes'. Within that they're all divided up into Soups, Main Courses, Desserts, Snacks, Buffet Stuff, Cakes/Biscuits and Christmas Recipes. I've printed off my favourites, put them into 'plastic pockets' and have them in a plastic binder - the kind you would use in college for assignments (or you could use a ring-binder).

This is great because it's easy wiped clean when I've gone a bit OTT with the whizzistick/blender/foodmixer :rotfl:.

omg - not really all that organised at all :o - just that I'm such an untidy so-and-so, even on the comp, that unless I do it as I go along, I can never find anything. Mostly I save them into the 'Recipe Folder' and then every now and again, 'tidy them up' into their relevant sections then print off any new favourites.

Mind you, I did a 'Filing Course' many years ago (oh dear - actually 42yrs ago!:eek:) and lots of it stuck with me.

My school didn't teach HE - how I wish they had! I couldn't boil an egg when I left. But I did learn Chemistry and as I learned to cook, I looked on recipes as 'experiments' - some worked and some didn't  - I just didn't blow anybody up :rotfl:.

  • Can anyone tell me where I can get a gherkin? It's for paul merrits coleslaw recipe, it uses a grated gherkin so I don't think it's a pickled one, but I'm not sure where I would get them or what else I could use instead.

I'm not sure you can get non-pickled gherkins - I've always thought that a gherkin is just a small pickled cucumber (although I could well be wrong!). I don't know the recipe, but you could perhaps try adding some grated plain cucumber, if you've got some, and just adding a little extra vinegar to the dressing.
Back after a very long break!
