Yeah a freezer bag would work perfectly -if it holds shape?

Do you have any greaseproof paper? Roll up a cone, snip the end off? I remember sellotape being involved....hold on ill search

or go for proper HM and slather it on with a knife *drool*

Here's a thread with one or two other explanations, probably better than mine

Nope to greaseproof paper. I may just use the knife option :) but will have a lookie at the threads.

    Thanks

I imagine any kind of stiffish paper would work ? If all else fails, try knife/plastic bag and do let me know how you get on!

  • today's query....I am making cupcakes and want to pipe buttercream icing for the top. But don't have anything to do piping. Could I use a freezer bag with corner cut off? Or can you suggest anything else? It doesn't have to look great!

    TIA

I used the freezer bag with the corner cut off quite a few times before I gave in and got a cheap icing set from Wilkinsons - I can testify that as long as you're not trying to do anything *too* intricate, it works very well indeed!

  • Zippychick - I attempted the freezer bag option but it got a bit too gooey and sticky so I just went for the knife option! Cupcakes were lovely, I have some to take with my lunch this week.

I posted a bit back about looking for a good fly deterrent...me muvva has the same problem now, with noticably large amounts of the little bug---s  Spray &/or citronella are not an option so wondered if there are any other natural alternatives to keep them out of the house in the first place!

  • BigMumma - you might have more luck in the Greenfingered board? Just a thought if no one can give you an answer here.

  • I hope this is the right place to ask - I have tried searching but get SO many results because of the words pizza, base, and cook!

But what I want to know is: if I make a pizza base from dough, should I cook it before adding the toppings? If so for how long, and how long again with toppings?

    Thanks in advance :)

If you're using a standard bread dough base then no, you don't need to cook it before adding the toppings - just put the toppings on the base and put the whole lot in the oven until golden.

If you're using a thick base you're supposed to get better results if you put the raw pizza on to a pre-heated baking tray, so it cooks from the bottom as well. I've never tried that, though, as I can't work out how to get a floppy pizza on to a red-hot baking tray without cooking my fingers too!
Back after a very long break!
