Hello,
When I make lasagne for some reason the top layer of lasagne sheets go curled up and are too crunchy. Please can someone suggest where I am going wrong? I suspect I am either cooking the lasagne for too long or not enough, or too high up in the oven (I usually put it on top shelf).

Is it possible to freeze cooked meat? The kind you buy sliced for sandwiches? I'm a grown woman and feel I should know the answer to this.
It's cheaper to buy 2 or 3 packs at a time.

Is there a quick way to clean margarine containers? I've hoarded about thirty together but margarine + washing up brush = mess. I want to use them for freezer containers.I've also got about, er, a hundred apple cores in the freezer. This is because I was going to make pectin but I don't think I'll ever get round to making jam. Is there anything else I can do with all the cores now that I've got them all?

I'm not sure there is a very easy way but I think it is the fat content that makes it really difficult. I think I would make sure I had removed as much as possible from the tubs with kitchen roll and then chuck them into a large bowl with lots of hot water and washing up liquid. The washing up liquid emulsifies the fat if I remember rightly but with 30 tubs you might need a lotwater on it's own won't cut it. Once the bubbles are gone you need new water and new washing up liquid in it
I would normally put a tub like that in the beginning of the washing up and leave it to soak, one in each washing up session would be less of a big deal than 30 at onceGod is good, all the time

- Defrost a few and thread some onto string to hang outdoors for birds and other assorted beasties?
- If you have a juicer you should be able to get at least something out of them
- Defrost, chop them up and put them in a pan with only a tiny bit of water. When thoroughly soft press the solids through a sieve with the back of a ladle to get a puree?
- As above but with lots of water and get "apple juice with bits"?

Not a specifically Old Style answer but if you should happen to have a can of spray furniture polish in your hand it works on squeaky hinges too
