  • ooo how exciting weezl!! Sounds like fergie is like his daddy then with those long limbs (behave girls please!!)...mum wants to know do you still want a red hoodie and got most confused when I exclaimed (I was on the phone when you posted!) that Fergus is a boy and she thought I was talking about the turtle!! Are you both chuffed with the news? I am but will try and contain myself (at least until the moment of birth and then all bets are off lol!!). Any scan pics to show us?!! BUT dont scan the scan as it goes black - you have to photograph it with no flash if you did want to show us!! Going to now gleefully change the turtle who isnt called fergus!! Mum sends love too!! (sorry very off topic but he is s frugal baby innit!!) will have a look for the one I like online weezl...did you manage to cost the fan from teh info...its on now but am not sufficiently scared to switch it off yet!

    Ohhhhh baby talk ! I love it ! :j

Congratulations Weezl, thank you for sharing with us all, I feel very honoured !

    Glad everything is ok xx

Not much to report here either, been busy getting ready for our annual Bonfire Procession (Guides).

Had pork chops, roasties and green beans (from garden) tonight for tea.

Made some golden syrup and almond biscuits earlier and they're rather yummy - must put them up before I eat them all !

We've got Mum, Dad, Brother, Sis-in-law and their dog coming down this weekend so really looking forward to it. We've got a fairly busy weekend what with the procession so won't be very frugal for us (not really got the time to cook and will be having fish n chips on Sat night). Not often we treat ourselves though so going to enjoy it ! :p:D

Have a good evening everyone xx

    Hiya weezl

Glad to hear that all is going well with Fergus..so he's going to be a tall lad then is he? Best not to bother with the first size or two of baby clothing then maybe? He'll probably outgrow that before he's even born.:D

Hope the tiredness is starting to abate a bit...

    Limoncello
    7 lemons peel only
    750 ml bottle cheap vodka
    3 cups water
    3 cups sugar

Wash and dry the lemons then peel as thinly as possible, avoiding the white pith. Place in a large jar and add vodka. Leave to steep for a couple of months.
Then make a sugar syrup with the sugar and water, cool then add to the lemon vodka mix. Leave for a couple of weeks, strain and enjoy!

WOW! Thanks for this, I tried Limoncello for the first time in Tuscany in August.:D I LOVE it.
It never occured to me to make my own. Guess what I'll be shopping for tomorrow.:j
  • May I suggest asda smartprice vodka and lemons altho I suspect that lidl lemons are of better quality...maybe do some lemon curd with the lemon juice...anyone got a tried and tested recipe? seems a shame to waste it plus my mum just rang and is coming to stay so we'll have a yummy 24 hours of relaxation and chilling and she loves lemon curd!

  • This voucher still works as i used it in Minehead on Tuesday. I didn't intend buying anything but saw Nigella's Christmas book, then learned that Smiths charge for bags and had to invest in one as it was tipping down. Paid £7.50 I think.

Guys, whilst this is slightly off topic I saw this and thought of you Weezl and some of the other guys who contribute to this thread.

The original River Cottage book by HFW is on offer at WHSmiths from £30 down to a tenner. Sounds good? Well if you use they link below to the WHS thread there is a generic coupon dated until end of 2008 which gets you £5 off any £10 (or more) book! Getting said book for a fiver.

Now I realise a lot of you may not wish to invest in a book you can easily get from a library however this one has basic animal keeping right thru to cooking odd bits as well as regular bits. (That's when I thought of you Weezl) :o As well as grow your own information. For a fiver it's well worth a look for yourselves or a 'frugal' gift.

(My advise is print a few of these off incase the link expires at some point. I used one at the weekend on a book that was in the half price hardback sale from £20 to a tenner and then got a further £5 off.) :j

Ooops, what a plonker........ I forgot the post! Sorry.

    Morning all.

Another one of my early starts, damn oh and his early work times, but I have to get back into the swing of the MSE ways as now not only do I have debts to pay, but a wedding to save for. Don't get excited though, I've about 1year 11 months til it happens, should have started saving sooner really but I've been concentrating on getting my spend pay ratio more pay-ee then spend-ee. I'm determined to graduate from wanabe to weezlite frugalista with all you other fabulus people:j .

Weezl - :j Yay!:j on fergus being happy and healthy, even in the womb.

Right plan for the day is sort laundry, tidy bedroom inc stripping bed, hoovering matress and puttiong away clean clothes, also plan to go to M and S to see whats on the 2 for £10, with oh discount card we get it for £8 and if the chickens are on it they can do us for a fair few meals if I can find a big one.

Also,I love asdas creamy tomato pasta bake, anyone know a good (and veggi full) recipe for making my own, unfortunatly I loves the cream so if theres the possiblity to lower the fat ie creme fraiche or anything please tell me, I want to know all the secrets.

Got annoyed at Mr T today, and it reminded me of Weezl's nutritional analysis of sausages :rotfl: I wanted something to eat with sugar free jelly that was low in WW points, so I went to get some ready made custard as a bit of a treat. "Ooh, the light choices version looks good" me thinks, checks price, baulks - 85p for a small ish carton. Look at other options. A tin of Mr T value is 18p and contains the same amount of custard. Look at nutritional analysis. The same amount of calories and LESS fat & saturated fat! AND you get a bigger portion with What a rip off the light choices one was!

re portion control on custard. I've found a way of making a single portion that stops me eating 'just another spoonful won't hurt'.
2 tsps of custard powder, 1 tsp sugar, 125ml semi skimmed (I use measuring cups and this is the 'half' one)

Mix together and zap in the microwave for 1 minute, 100 cals
  • Will definitely be giving the Limoncello a try. I'm making some biscotti as Christmas gifts so this would go very well with that. Also lemons freeze well so I'll probably chunk them up once I've peeled them then freeze and use one in a drink instead of ice.
