Went to asda tonight and got a weeks worth of shopping for just under £20!! Lots and lots of woopsie items. I find myself walking through the aisles with little eagle eyes now looking for yellow stickers. Tea tomorrow will cost a total of 79pence for the pair of us!!

  • Limoncello
    7 lemons peel only
    750 ml bottle cheap vodka
    3 cups water
    3 cups sugar

Wash and dry the lemons then peel as thinly as possible, avoiding the white pith. Place in a large jar and add vodka. Leave to steep for a couple of months.
Then make a sugar syrup with the sugar and water, cool then add to the lemon vodka mix. Leave for a couple of weeks, strain and enjoy!

Been busy with college and MIL is visiting next week for the first time and i have an assignment to complete for after half term so i need to be more organised than of late

Looking for some ideas for a load of veg languishing at the bottom of fridge
    • parsnips
    • sweet potatoes
    • carrots
    • cabbage

Munchki well done on your bargains the village shop is not so bargainous 70p seems to be the reduced price for everything and the bigger shops the drive wouldn't justify the savings

  • RE jars - had a mooch in Tesco yesterday - 9p mint sauce seems to be a good bet for jars - I doubt anybody will sell empty jars for less than 9p?

Then all we'd need to do was work out what to do with a glut of mint sauce :rotfl:

  • oo you are a helpful lot...will have a think re jars...limicello coming up...just in time for christmas sales!! I do need to buy nice bottles though as people can then give them as presents and hopefully make a tidy profit as we say in these ere parts! Shaz your eyes would have popped at costco...the sheer volume of shelves was amazing!! Think ikea sized warehouse for food going up and up to ceiling. Always makes me chuccle that I think of people I dont "know" when out and about...
Does anyone have any ideas for the chicken in white sauce recipe? I want to make the best of being off and fill the freezer...tonight will be a cereal night though me thinks!

    evening all!:beer::A

ISOM have you got one of the packs there? It would really help to know the weight of the overal meal, and what percentages it gives after the main ingredients: like rice 60% chicken 20% etc... Then we can get to work!

didn't really have anything frugally interesting to say for a few days, so kept my peace!

Had free lunch at work today which was lovely buffet.

Had the 20 week (or in my case 21 week!) anomaly scan yesterday... Look away anyone who doesn't want to know details....

Fergus is officially a 'he' with perfect organs and limbs. He has unusually long legs and is very active. (best get in training methinks!) For those who like lots of detail, apparently the placenta is against my spine, so very unlikely to get in the way.

There was a query about whether I'd need to be consultant led for delivery due to having alergies and anaphalaxis, but now are happy for me to be under the care of the midwives....

Congrats on that, always a bit nervewracking going for those scans, especially the lovely named anomaly!! Now that Fergus is officially a HE what you need to do now is find some friend/accaintences who have a boy about 18 months and scam all their old clothes of them!!!!!!!!;)

Is Fergus a consideration for a real name or will it remain a nickname?
