Im sure I read on here somewhere that someone used stardrops in their dishwasher. Ill have a look in a mo and see if I can find the post! When my dishwasher worked I used to use half a tablet - noticed no difference at all!! I also only use one tablet in my washing machine - again I have noticed no difference and boxes of washing tablets last ages (can't remember when I brought my last box!!)MFW 2011 challenge - Aim: Overpay £414.26 a month/£5,000 a year. "I added a squirt of stardrops to my dishwasher yesterday - seems to have worked well although there were a few soap suds at the bottom after it had finished.....! Perhaps a bit too much?!? Ha, ha!! anyhoo...
was it on this thread someone was talking about stump soup (ie broccolli stumps)?
~I have to confess I have been throwing away (or at least composting) cauliflower leaves and stumps for years. I'd never really thought about it until recently, but suddenly it seemed a terrible waste. So I bunged them in my soup- and they were lovely. DH ate the leftovers - I didn't tell him they were cauli leaves until he'd finished and he would never have guessed.weaving through the chaos...0 -

I worked in a pub one Christmas, a small one with a glass/dishwasher behind the counter. It smelled quite bad so I put a squirt of washing up liquid in it too. BIG mistake! Suffice to say I ended up cleaning the floor tooGod is good, all the time

ROFL :rotfl: Someone at my work thought it would be ok to replace dishwasher detergent with washing up liquid- big, soapy, foamy mistake. Something you only do once I think!
I had a cheapy dinner that I had totally forgotten about last night- cauliflower cheese. Got a whoopsied cauli from Mr A, some strong cheddar on offer and used up some stale bread to make a crunchy breadcrumbs topping. All the rest of the white sauce ingredients were staples and it was blooming lovely plus I have a portion left for my lunch today. Served it last night with a 50p Savoy cabbage (also from Mr A) which I sauteed in a little water, then added half a teaspoon of butter and lots of black pepper. It was delicious- I haven't cooked cabbage for ages but this was great. Just wanted to share.
Tonight will be fish pie with a sweet potato topping- already got the fish in the freezer and just really fancy some comfort food. I think it is the cooler temp- I resolutely refuse to put the heating on yet so am making up for it with lovely hot, stodgy meals!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
have dinner all sorted here for tonight. quorn mince mixed with some frozen mixed veg and onion and a tin of condensed mushroom soup and 1/2 can of water. lightly fry the onion til soft, add the rest of the ingrediants and put into a oven dish. top with potato croquettes and then bake in the oven for about half hourish. The last few mins sprinkle lightly with grated cheese. DH loves it and is cheap and easy. Mine is in the fridge waiting to go into the over later today. took me all of 10 mins this morning to put together.
Hope everyone is doing well.....back off to work I go!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -

shaz...lol, yep you read it right. Kind of a twist on something I grew up with in the States and have found that croquettes work a treat. Have dinner in the oven now and smells very nice. Now just wish DH would hurry up and get home!!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0

shaz thought of you today when went to have a look at costco...its FULL of stokpiling yummyness but will take weezl with me to see if its worth the 26 joining fee...I suspect not tbh plus not sure where I'd put it all in my wee flat!
Am very proud of myself cos I got whoopsied organic pork today...just had some for supper and the rest is simmering in a pot with veg and stock...commonly known as stew....Also got vodka (smartprice) and lemons (smartprice) for the limicello which I'll make over the weekend...plus didnt die of shame buying smartprice!!
Re the jam/chutney the ones I sold were strawberry jam (only worth it with cheapish strawbs), peach jam and the old dowager chutney which people love...strawberry is more popular. In terms of selling I do 2 jar sized - normal (1.50) and a kilner (5.0) on the condition I get the jars back...people love hm jam me thinks and some people nag and nag until I make it and one woman has even started stockpiling!! feels lovely that people like it and noone has moaned yet! Let me know if you want recipes - I have a book or two on the subjectThe peach and amaretto wasnt great imo...too runny.
PS MRS M DID U GET MY PM?!!!!!!!!!
pps...anyone got a linky to limicello recipe to save me hunting through reams...and also did someone say they found a good co for jars cheaply? If so could you pm me the details please!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
