I managed to get 2 latrge bags of Spinach whoopsied yesterday. what would you do with them?! Any suggestions? Have looked for a few recipies but I am not that struck? I might do a curry dish (aka saag) I also have a block of blue cheese that needs using up. and a savoury tart case I was given. Quite fancy doing something with that. any suggestions? I am not that well at the moment and my brain has gone to mush:o
"Help" !!
(Fanx in advance!)
i'd bung the cheese and spinach in the pastry tart, maybe fry some onions up with a bit of bacon if you have it, toss those in too, add eggs and make yourself a quiche!0 -
The dried onion would be good in bread too...
actually the dried onion is good in just about anything savoury!
they're great for topping casseroles, just place them on top and put back in the oven for about 5 minutes to warm them through and crisp them a bit
or mix into soups for a little added oomph!
added to bread as you mentioned both inside the dough or on top when baked
they're really nice tossed on top of fried eggs with a sprinkling of cheese
very nice inside a tortilla with some baked beans and cheese
mmmm i love dried onions mmmmm0 -

And do you use the Whitworths type dried onions or are these the fried type you get to shake over salads?
I've got the former but love the sound of your ideas and would love to give some a go.
Mrs_Tradition - I want your freezer and cupboards. Had a looky in mine and its not looking promising.
Well, I've picked the bulk of the tomatoes now so I have an absolute glut of them all over the kitchen. Better keep making up those pasta sauces and pizza toppings. :rolleyes:AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I know I am probably too late but cook some new potatoes put to one side. Cook mince (recipe says lamb but works with any) tin toms, then I add mushrooms, onions and any other veg to hand, Curry powder and garlic. When all that is cooked stir in new potatoes and spinach and once spinach is wilted serve really yummy - well we think so:wave: Kate :hello:0 -

i normally use the fried onion type but it would work with just dessicated onions (freeze dried) as well
oh forgot to add either type are lovely added to greek yogurt with some garlic as a dip!0 -

i love wheatgerm sprinkled on a peanut butter sandwich
peanut butter spread on ryvita is nice, maybe you could do that and then add wheatgerm (would be very helpful if you were constipated)
i use wheatgerm in baking too, i'd replace between 1/4 - 1/2 cup flour (the more flour you'd use in a recipe the more you can replace with wheatgerm) you may need to add more liquid though as it's like a sponge
could millet go into baking? also could you sprout it?
you could make hummous with chickpeas mmmm
or make a pate of sorts maybe substituting the chickpeas for the lentil in the lentil pate recipe here in the forums
pasta is quite nice cooked al dente then mix in some butter, garlic granules and some parmesan cheese (or other cheese of your choosing)0
