I love egg and chips :D
What time is tea ?? :rotfl:;)

LOL I have to admit, as put out as I was about the moussaka, its never a hardship to have egg and chips for me. I love them, too. :D

I'm going to have pate and toast for my breakfast now. Not at all sure thats a breakfast type thing but I fancy it andsome needs using in the fridge. Love pate, too.

Mum will be round for lunch so need something tasty but cheapish.
I still have some reduced cheese (rather a lot in the freezer) so I'm thinking toasted cheese and onion sandwich, using my little HG red onions from the garden. She loves these and I've some very thick, slightly dry bread which should be fabulous in the panini machine. Sorted.

My store cupboard search has turned up rather a lot of rice. I only seem to use it for currys, sweet and sour and a rare chicken pilaff. Hmmm...

Oh, and I've found a very old box of risoto rice. Do you think it's okay to use in a rice pudding?

  • why not use it for risotto and make mum a cheesy risotto for lunch and then freeze some?!

There was a thread about this recently, that said you could :D
I will see if I can find it.

    Here is the LINKY
    :D
  • Thanks for that linky, Nopot2pin. Hadn't realised that even long grain can be used at a push. DS2 will be forever grateful as he adores the stuff.

ISOM - When I bought that rice (at an incredible 19p!) I was determined to master risotto but I keep chickening out because it looks yuck - and this from someone who's never phased by ANY food.
I just look at it and think 'savoury porridge.' Bet she would have loved it, too.

Actually, didn't have toasties because I found some l/o chicken in the freezer and some pittas so we have spicy chicken pittas with sweet chilli sauce. She woofed it down. :p

hob - How'd the first day go? I love l/o chicken in a Delia smith flan as mentioned in her Christmas book. Its just a pastry case lined with lightly fried leeks or onions and then cooked chicken over the top. Pour over a white sauce thats had nutmeg and a beaten egg added to it. Grate cheese on top. 30-40mins on gas5. Beautiful!
(she used leftover turkey and added cheese to the pastry - which is very special).
Its really filling so you don't need a very big piece - and we are rather greedy in our house. :o

  • Hi everyone, hope you're all ok! :hello:

I've found a tin of stewing steak in gravy in the store cupboard! Any ideas?

Could it maybe go into a pie, or make pasties with it ??

Or maybe add some veg, and make it into a soup ??
