'Tis okay our weezl...you can always come and hide at my place...if anyone "takes offence" at comments and the need to "run for cover" surfaces....:D

We sure did miss 'ee our Weezl whilst your nerdy brain was on "pregnancy leave"...;):D

Sitting here now eating my way though my latest improvised recipe idea....and 'tis pretty nice it 'tis....

I just steamed some sliced potatoes and then layered them with a bit of fried onions/bit of garlic/coupla handfuls quorn with added coupla tablespoons red pesto/can of tomatoes/bit of salt and pepper and chucked a bit of grated Cheddar (or similar) cheese on top and threw (well - not quite....) it in the oven for about 15 minutes at 200C and served with a bit of homegrown green salad.

Pretty nice...though I say so myself....:D and probably didnt cost that much....

I DO like my recipes and exact quantities...as you know...but life is being a bit busy right now with various Transition Town things going on hereabouts and some "personal" bits/pieces to sort out going on whilst I'm trying to get on with "Life" and other more important matters:mad: - so right at this moment I'm not looking at recipe books and doing fixed recipes...I'm throwing things together and seeing what happens and telling myself that its "Transition" style cooking (ie "What have I got? and what am I going to do with it?" style of cooking.....)

Necessity is t'mother of invention and all that...

Chop and wash mushrooms and boil up with a bit of water, at the same time boil the gnocci, while theyre doing chop the ham and faff in the kitche a bit (usually washing up in my case!) drain gnocci and add to the mushroom mix with some fry light then add the ham and just when ready the cream cheese and some black pepper...serve with salad...nommy as weezl would say...for the weebles among us (I reacon I weigh weezl, am and ferg combined and I'm not joking!!) I get that as 5 ww points for the meal...not bad at all and you dont feel depraived...o is it deprived...always get that one wrong...only problem is that I definately need to invest in some windease...nough said.

Ooh, you are all naughty... ;)

Have just been looking at Slimming World and Weight Watchers as I am not doing a good job of being healthy on my own, I think I need a weekly class to embarass me into behaving. Any advice on people who have tried either? I will still be healthily cooking myself methinks but there are SW and WW classes near work just after I finish...

    Sian

Well...I go for Slimming World myself....cant be doing with going hungry myself...... I do like to have a full stomach of food I do....

On another note - ISOM ...cooee...its here....'tis definitely here now...I've just got my tiara out and watched that there film ...ie "In transition"...'tis online right at this moment for all to watch for free until end of this Saturday...about the Transition Movement. So - technical difficulties overcome at last and I've spent the last hour laughing and crying my way through it...ultimately I felt it gave a very positive "take" on things...though I finished up in tears again when I saw the young boy saying at the end "we turned it around - when most people thought we didnt have a chance...." - cue for ceridwen bursting in tears again....

So - version 1 of our film here - bring on your hankies...but you will be smiling by the end of it:

    http://transitionculture.org/2009/06/11/

the link to the film is on that "post" (ie the one headed "Please take your seats ladies and gentlemen the online screening of intransition starts now" - couldnt get the direct link to work....). Enjoy....

(NB: I had to click the thingie to get Quicktime installed on my p.c. to get it - so some people will have to do that..)
  • I'm with Ceridwen on the SW diet as i hate point counting and like to stack my plate. Lots of threads on here about it Sian and you have nothing to lose by going to either of them really..other than a few pounds of course.

GISI- interesting question! Wikipedia says this:

"The cyst form of the parasite is extremely hardy, capable of surviving exposure to freezing down to −12 degrees Celsius (10 degrees Fahrenheit), moderate temperatures and chemical disinfectants such as bleach, and can survive in the environment for over a year. It is, however, susceptible to high temperatures—above 66 degrees Celsius (150 degrees Fahrenheit), and is thus killed by thorough cooking, and would be killed by 24 hours in a typical domestic freezer"

ceridwen I'm going to watch your movie today:T:T:T:T

I have an egg-related challenge for anyone to help me with... Costco eggs are 2/3 the price of asda, but I'd have to buy 60! So I'm wondering if I can creatively use em all up in 3 weeks with baking etc and stocking the freezer, apart from quiche, brownies and cakes does anyone have nice recipes for freezable things made with egg?

    Spoooooooky

I am kinda in this quandry myself...
As I went up to the egg lady the other day, and bought a tray of eggs (free range :D)... there is 30 eggs in one tray.
So far I have made 2 salmon and spinach quiche, and frozen them. I think I will also make 2 cheese and onion quiche, to freeze.
But like you Weezl.... I dont really know what else to make in bulk and freeze :o
I am not sure if an egg custard would freeze well
