weezl did you manage to find any nettle recipes for me???

going to get dd wraped up warm and put her reigns on and then were going to go for a walk. just hope I don't see anyone as they might think I am strange picking nettles.

going to make gnocci with mashed potatoes (not instant) as have no instant mash and the potatoes need eating. so will try dd with gnocci with a baby sauce (purchased before I knew better) thats in the cupboard, may as well use it up.

then the rest of the gnocci I will use later for mine and df tea with some kind of tomatoe nettle recipe. wonder if I can get away with no meat
hope everyone else is having a good day!

The lentil pate sounds nice - would someone like to point me in the recipe direction please?

We've got a veggi pasta bake for tea....costings as shown..

2 large onions (got a carrier bag full from the market last week for £1) so 10p

Handfull of frozen peppers (all the odds and ends I've frozen over the last month) 20p

Kidney beans - 15p (haven't room in the freezer for soaked/cooked ones so will be a tin)

    Passatta - 29p

Herbs - from the garden so free.

Glug of red wine - the dregs from the brewing bucket so free (but very tasty)

    Celery - 2 sticks 10p
    Carrots - 2 large grated - 10p

Pasta - 25p (brought on offer)
Half a mozerella ball grated on top - 25p

    Grand total of £1.44

This will feed the 4 of us tonight, DD1 will take some for lunch tomorrow and there should be a portion left for the freezer for one of her lunches next week.

    24p per portion :j

We are making veggie soup for tea - 3 carrots, 2 onions and 3 cloves garlic, some leftover celery and tomatoes, 100g lentils, tin toms, chicken stock cube and herbs from the garden plus water.. this will do 4 of us tonight and at least 2 (if not more) portions for another day.

We are getting into the habit of soup night here.. sometimes with hm rolls sometimes with hm cake for afters. Soup varies depending on what we have eaten that week and if we have had a roast chicken or not (i.e chicken stock and scrapings to be added!)

Well I managed a no spend day!. Didnt use the car either. Got Biggest of Mooloo to pick me up to take me to see twin2.
But our meal came in at quite a bit, as I used up two steaks that were in the freezer since god knows when. They were £2.45, and I made wedges out of the potatoes I had, and had frozen broccoli.
We wont be eating steak again for a long time. ! Going to share the last of the tinned peaches and tip top between us.

sorry for the delay! nettles are quite a strong flavour so the nettle pesto didn't work too well, but the chick pea chorizo and nettle recipe I invented recently would be nice with gnocci, have you found that page yet or do you need a linkie :)

yategirl my friend who's a dietician has a soup night. She says it's really healthy, cos it kinda resets your brain back into good portion sizes for an evening meal, but still keeps you full up til the morning, as it has (blitzed soup) twice the evacuation time from the stomach, so your fuller for longer...

anyhow, good idea lass! I may join you, but acetate monkey won't!!!

Approved foods do Tip Top at some rediculously low price. Its about 4 tins for £1 I think. I hadnt had it since I was a kid, but mmmmm I just enjoyed it. The tin had been stored in the fridge, so it was lovely and thick and creamy!.

They weren't too squidgy but I did end up using SR flour, was that right? I think maybe a little less flour and a little more sugar would make it a more chewy texture but I really liked it and have had compliments at work today (took one loaf tin worth in so I wasn't tempted to eat it all!)

yep I used sr flour too... more sugar less flour, great, I'll try that thanks chick ;)
