oo how exciting!! Got a new stash of beads today from someone who is flogging them whole job lot (off here!) and were bargainous so chuffed with that!!
Went to look after my godchildren yesterday and came back today. Showed them how to cook flapjacks and then promptly burned them to a crisp as theirs is a supa dupa oven...their house and my clothes stink but being god fed the crumbs to the birds although am told they are posh birds and may decline the offer! b*** cheek!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Think they must be off doing a bargain Christmas!
Have just put SC on with weezl's turkey korma but mine's more extravagant as I popped an onion and some horse carrots in. Am off to work so when I return it will be yummy. :j
It's a lovely frostie sunny day so Christmas cards will wait as I'm doing stuff out doors.

Hi everyone ! :santa2:
Thread is a bit quiet lately but I guess it's that time of the year when everything seems to go mad ! Not enough hours in the day !
Am off work today (and probably tomorrow !) as all of my little cherubs have this winter cold/flu/sickness thingy that's doing the rounds. _pale_
So, i'm making the most of it ! Last night at Mr Ts I got 4 reduced stewing veg packs for 32p each, 4 packs of parsnips for 25p each and 2 bags of carrots 12p each and I'm having a batch cook day. I've chopped up 2 bags of the the parsnips and part roasted them - will be going into the freezer. Other two have gone into spicy parsnip soup (also going in the freezer). Stewing packs consisted of a small swede, carrots, onion and a parsnip so i've separated the packs and boiled up all the swede and mashed it (going in the freezer), parsnips went into the soup, some of the carrots and onions went in my huge batch of beef stew that is in the slow cooker at the moment and the rest of the carrots and onions will be going into a turkey leg stew which i'll do in the slow cooker tomorrow. I'll make some good old carrot soup with any that are left over.
I hadn't intended to worry too much about what we spend on food this month (within reason of course - I now hate spending too much on food !) but clearly you have all taught me well and it's now becoming second nature for me !!!!
Hope everyone is well xx:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -

Hello there! So glad you're still all here.:T:j:T
Been pooped and have had a couple of sad events to contend with so I'm afraid I was hibernating a bit.:o
Have a few frugal things to share now, so I've popped in
just made a rather special icecream by whipping double cream, icing sugar and posh coffee together. It's rather haagen-dazs esque. This is why I think it's frugal, cos it's a third of the price of theirs :rotfl:actually it doesn't fit well with the 50p a day cos it's 60p a portion, but as we're eating Fergus' share...:D
recipe on request!
made 5 trays of mince pies yesterday, I think they're just under 2p each (i made the mincemeat from scratch) and a batch of shortbread. This was all in response to the shock discovery that after a decade of being at least 3 stone apart, there's only 9lb between us! Mr Weezl has lost a stone! Fergus must be jolly heavy! (perhaps he's eating his dad in the night...) So I thought a spot of emergency baking might help.
He's also gone to a work buffet tonight. He always fills his boots (and sometimes pockets:o;)) at those, so that should help.
going to try something in the slo cooker with some belly pork strips, which I think could be frugalicious, any ideas what I could lob in with it?
I'm getting lots of 'you're looking well!' so my diet must be in some way ok. Although my inner geek has gone missing to work it all out (methinks Fergus has eaten her too!)
I'm going to read through all your news now.
Love to you all, and keep up the good work,
Weezl x

Well....had a wonder round Sainsburys earlier and picked up a pack of 4 avacados for 80p, so made 20ish sarnies for the freezer with bread picked up from Mr Ts the other day with plenty of date left but for 19p a loaf
so very frugal sarnies for me and the little 'un.....unfortunatly DS1 and DH refuse to eat it, so more for us
Starting to think about putting together the hampers for Christmas...got nearly all the goodies to go in...but just lack the time, energy and Christmas spirit to do it yet.....maybe tomorrow
I always loiter around Sainsburys around Christmas eve time.....they had veg from 15p last year, and we've only just used all of it up  so me thinks we need to stock up again!0 -

I reckon plenty of browned onions, some carrots and an apple chopped 9one of those old ones that looks unappetising), along with a good bit of barley, seasoned with sage.
Hi by the way, I'm new around these parts, fab idea this live on 50p a day...am thinking of putting my toe in the water!Pay off as much as you can in 2012 challenge No. 64: 328.75/2,5000
