I have been looking for a veggie tagine i may try yours without the turkey but with extra chick peas and serve with mint & lemon couscous(couscous with a splodge of mint sauce and glug of plastic lemon ,i guess veggie would alter the price per portion even with the cheap turkey leg!!

dead excited as we are having red meat here tomorrow....................cant remember the last time that happened (its some of the 1/2 cow i bought in the summer)

Also looking for frugal boxing day meal i want to do a hot buffet that can be slow cookered so i don't spend all day cooking!!!

    thanks

Recipe for Chickpea Tangine for Shaz! I’m not a measure type by nature though, sorry!
    You need:
A tin of chickpeas with the water
    A carrot
    Half an onion
    A clove of garlic
    A few heads of broccoli
Dried apricot and dried fruit (it wasn’t in the original recipe, but meat tangines usually have them so I added it in.
Cous Cous (portions are usually on the pack, I used 75g per person)
Cinnamon, ginger, cayenne pepper, chilli flakes, mint and dessicated coconut
    • Heat a little oil and soften a glove of garlic and half an onion until soft and then add cinnamon, ginger, cayenne pepper and chilli flakes. Cook for another few minutes.
    • Add the carrots, broccoli and chickpeas with the water stir it around so the spices get mixed in to the food properly and cover for 15 minutes.
    • Boil up the water for the cous cous (amount should be on the packet) with the coconut. It won’t completely dissolve but that’s ok. When it is boiling pour it over the container the cous cous is in add a little sprinkle of mint. Wait 5 minutes and then fluff it up with a fork.
I posted this on my blog about 10 minutes ago. I was away this weekend so only just got to typing.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

Oh No ISOM!!! I thought it was bad when my fridge broke down, but no oven?
Good luck, I really hope it's sorted quickly.
I managed to get some whoopsied apples today, 38p for 8. Made my meal plan for the week today and I'm going to be attempting something a bit different. I had a little google search and I could find it... Don't know if that's a good or bad thing! lol

I'm going to make fish cakes but use butter beans instead of potato, what do you think?

Ditto on the mooncup! They might take a while to get used to, but persevere.

    Ditto both of you :)
I find it affects me much less than using other types of protection and I'm sure it has saved me money!
