Going to ask personal question Guapa i see you won a femmecup have you used it ?

I have been considering one but can't find anyone with experience of one

Feel free not to ansewr if too personal

    Shaz

It takes some getting used to, and I find it ok but as I'm very very heavy and I can't keep it in very long. It doesn't seem to work at nights either for me, so I end up using something else.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

    Ditto both of you :)
I find it affects me much less than using other types of protection and I'm sure it has saved me money!

And ditto again!! I love my mooncup - well, as much as you can a personal hygiene product! Month on month I am so chuffed with how easy it is to use (a couple of days perseverance in the beginning is all it takes) as well as how it's saving me money and saving the environment!

On a different subject, I am oh so chuffed with myself at the mo as I have just finished hanging and drawing 2 pheasants I was given - my first attempt at butchery from scratch, so am feeling rather Weezlish! Was wondering if anyone had any slow cooker recipes for my birds (ghoulishly, I have named them Jack & Betsy!) as I've rather neglected the sc recently and so want to use it rather than put t'oven on to roast em.
    Cheers

  • evening all! Well here I be with a fixed cooker -thankfully it was the fuse box which man who can hadnt rebooted properly or sommat but I recon we're even as I forgot not to set the alarm so had a panicked phone call with a very loud buzz in the background! At least the street know its not a fake lol!
Weezl sends lots of love but she is a tired weezl so little energy left after a day at w*** plus being a frugal weezl on top. I have no doubt that she is still being weezlesque though as still v. committed to the challenge! All that decorating too and hope for both of them that it is done soon...dont know how they have done so much!!
Shaz enjoy the meat!! hello c...nice o see you mrs m...hows the craft stuff going? Hope you feel better soon gupa and hugs cw...
re the mooncup am intrigued and would be grateful if someone can answer via pm if necessary how you "empty" it when out and about!! as someone who spends much of her life having to use something due to oerenthusiastic hormones would love to find something that is a cheap alternative to spending a bomb on "feminine products"!! Also is it really ikky? Re being heavy is that not good for pelvic floor - although with that comment had visions lol!! apologies for the embarassed among us!!
Weezl when you look in remind me re the nappy discussion as have a friend who has some fab ones that she is happy to show/discuss locally - one set have done two of her boys and theyre so much easier than the hm ones...would also be an opportunity for you to see the child whom I possibly consider to be the cutest most adoprable creature ever!! he really is edible!

Could you good folks give me a refresher course in using dried pulses please? I've got a feeling I may have asked before, but as you can probably tell, retaining info is not one of my strong points just now :p I guess I'm particularly jittery about being a newbie, cuz I know some of them can be extremely toxic if not processed correctly :o For that reason, I'm NEVER going near dried kidney beans
OK....I've the Pinto beans I was  over & wondered if I could soak them in with the yellow split peas then likewise boil them up together in the same pot? If I need to deal with them seperately that's not a problem, just means a variety of bulking agents doesn't it ;) It would be nice to have slightly different flavours of cottage pie :rotfl:
Has anyone found the pulses have different tastes &/or textures & are there any cominations that work well together?
I'm really sorry to be such a PITA :o I'm keen to try new things but don't want to poison us in the process...TIA

Hi ISOM, apologies if am about to gross anyone out... When away from home, I just remove said cup, and tip the contents straight down the toilet. If there's a sink, then great, it gets a wash out, but if not, it gets wiped clean with toilet roll, then 'put back' iyswim... I don't find it any more gross than dealing with the traditional sanitary products (although I'm not easily squeamish!), in fact I find it easier as there's no need to carry around bagfuls of pads or anything!

Regarding the toxins in kidney beans - all you need to do is boil them on high for ten minutes before switching to simmer. The rapid boil kills all the nasties (or, if you want to be more scientific, causes a chemical change that turns the toxins into something easily digestible, even nutritious). My mum always used to throw this first boiling water away and replace with fresh before bringing to the boil again and simmering for 1-1.5 hrs, as needed - you can do that too, if you are nervous, but I have stopped doing that after reading up on it and realising it was completely unneccessary, and I'm still here to tell the tale...

When it comes to pinto beans and yellow split peas, yes, you can do them together - but as split peas need less soaking and cooking, they will probably get a bit mushy by the time pinto beans are done. For that reasons, I wouldn't do it - I like my split peas to have a bit of "bite" and definition...

I love my dried pulses, me :)

i agree with this.. only thing i would add is that i keep some wipes or a travel bottle of handwash stuff so I can wipe my hands before I go out of the cubicle to wash at the sink.... ;)
  • well thanks for the description. Will have a think on this and will do some googling. with 3 of 4 weeks needing sommat it may save me money if nowt else....sounds a tad messy though yategirl!!
Hope youre all ok. Didnt know you coud cause injury by pulses!! never managed to kill myself yet and it would seem from the description above that its easy to resolve anyhoo. Hope youre all ok...
