It was gross.
It turned out like a meat porridge - really claggy and had a nasty chalky texture. At first I thought 'Oh ideal, oats are a natural thickener, so I won't have to add gravy granules', but it was horrid. What did I do? I only put in two handfuls of oats (my hands hold about an ounce)
Morning All
BLAIRWEECH...Sounds like you made meatloaf..I like meatloaf..we dont have it regularly,,but I use oats to make that and it is very nice ,,

Morning all,
not caught up on yesterday's thread yet but will do a bit later. Hope all those feeling poorly improve soon. Been up again in the night with another migraine - following another painting session (youngest DD's bedroom). Still feeling a bit queasy which is fun, as we're supposed to be off to Pizza Hut in an hour or so (with our MSE 50% off voucher
) to celebrate youngest DD's 12th birthday! (All DD's currently gone bowling with their father).
I had a great time at the Dogs thank you
There were 12 races & I bet £1 on each (to win) but at the end of the evening was only 60p down as I'd won back £11.40
Sat at restaurant tables in the stand, front row overlooking the track & staff come & take your bets at the table. Food was lovely too. I had a really good time & might go with my DD's one evening, but we'll just do the cheap burger bar bit & stand outside (if it's nice).
CharliesMum, hope the wedding went well for you. I'll do a proper catch up later when I feel better (hopefully) but meantime ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) for all those needing them & have a good day all.

thanks for the welcomes! I've been busy the last hour or so! I finished off the mars bar crispy tray 'bake' (i used 8 mars bars and 2 bars of Asda value milk chocolate and filled a roasting tin!) made 40 Twink's hobnobs - they look and smell gorgeous! and made up enough food for a weeks worth of lunches...
i made a big tub of tuna mayonnaise with diced peppers, a big bowl of pasta and a big bowl of boiled rice (i did what someone on another thread said and made the rice cool quickly to stop the nasty spores!). on a morning i'll just add the tuna mix to either the pasta or the rice. yum! (i love tuna mayonnaise)
I still live with my mum (i'm 24) but i work quite a way away, and my BF lives near work, so i still have to be very thrifty if i can. Petrol and tolls for the Tyne Tunnel cost a lot every week!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -

me and the BF get 2 of those vouchers every time they come around (1 each), and we can get our meal for about £11!! We always get a cheesy bites pizza, with 1/2 and 1/2 toppings and drinks, usually comes to about £20!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Hi Glitter, sounds like you have had a productive morning.
Squiggly, I used to love going to the dogs. We did have a track here in town, but now it's an Odeon cinema and we also used to go to Preston dog track, but that's gone also
Lovely and sunny here, shame I did and dried all my washing at work on Friday.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Hi Whatatwit I miss the dog track too! Somehow the Swift Hound isn't the same is it?
Popped back in to say welcome to Glitterkitty :hello:
I have just sorted the fridge out in aticipation of a big cook up this afternoon, but I have no idea what to do with one burger (nice quality) and two sausages (also nice ones) :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon all
Visitors left at around 10ish after a cooked breakfast, I over estimated on the Thai style chicken & we are now having it for lunch today & I have 3 portions in the freezer. I've stripped the bed & so the washing line is buckling under the weight of all the washing, just one load left to do now. I've been given another bag of apples, so will make more crumbles soon.
Hugs to Smokeys LO & anyone else in need.
Hester.

I'm back! I know I've posted about 10 times today, it's because I don't have time to post in the week, so have to squish it all into one day

Kaat-Lady - Meatloaf, eh? Well, if that was meatloaf then...I hate it.
MummySaver - yes, I do usually use mince on its own, that is a good point about it being a shock
GlitterKitty - Great idea about the bowls of pasta/rice etc. I love pasta salad, and that would be even easier to make up than a sandwich in the mornings!
Sistercas - TBH, I think I might have actually been given a detention because my response was something along the lines of '£1 an egg?????? Did you lay it yourself or something????'
Got my hangers, reduced again to £5!
Also saw a carboot in Tavy, so popped into that but it was pretty slim pickings, only about 10 stalls. Still, I bought 2 tupperwares (£1) and a Christmas oil burner (£1). Also saw another carboot advertised starting at 1, so I will pop along to that later.
Seeing all the spring bulbs about at the moment makes me sad that I don't have a garden anymore. I do have room for a few tubs though, so will have to get some planted up.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hi Blairweech
I only add one scant handful of oats to my mince, but I also add lentils, grated carrot & grated onion to bulk the mince out.

Afternoon all,
After 2 really nice days it is misting now, but not cold at all, so even OH won't feel the need for heating!
Welcome glitterkitty, you will like it here, although warned, some of the contributors are a bit mad...not me of course!
Just OH and me here this morning, so we had a thick salady sandwich for breakfast with coffee, porksteak for dinner not sure whether to stir fry with couscous or noodles...will think about whichever is fastest.
Hope that all the needy people are feeling better.
Have a good evening all
