Morning all,
Not raining here, but not sunny either, hope it brightens up, the weather here yesterday was beautiful, I hope it was nice for charlies mum and that the wedding went well.
OH got up early and went to the car boot sale, and dd and little dog are still in bed, so its nice and peacefull here. Got some nice thick pork chops in the sc, i cook them in there for several hours and then crisp then up in the oven before serving, then make up a gravy with the juice in the sc, they are delish like that. Will have them with roasties cabbage and carrots from my garden.
Need to get the laws cut today, the back one always grows quicker than the front, and I am getting wet when going up to hang the washing.
Yesterday I managed to get dd some new bedding, her fitted sheets had gone all baggy, and were looking a bit thread bare so got some lovely thick winter fleecy sheets in matalan for £5 each, two pillowcases for £3, and a new duvet set for £7, also a three pack of thick school tights for £3, I have been looking for a fake fur type throw for her bed, she has the one off my bed at the moment, but with these colder evenings we will both need one, so will keep a look out for one.
Will get little dog out for a walk later and try to get some blackberrys, they finally seem to be ready now, we seem to be behind every one else this year
.
Smoky hope little ones toe is not too painfull xx
Kathy hope your head is better xx
Beth how is your DH ?
Squiggly did you enjoy the dogs ?
Hugs to dogrose, well done for holding it together in front of him xx
Haribo, hope you and the girls are ok xx
WMF, good luck xx
Well better get on with the day.
Have good days all x0 -
Morning all!
Had dd3 in bed with me last night! She was meant to be sleeping over at her friend's house, just down the road, but I got a call to say she'd been sick, euch! Fetched her home and she was then sick on and off until 3.30am. She doesn't feel too great this morning but at least isn't being ill anymore, and she is fairly cross that she can't go swimming this morning lol!
Watched Strictly last night, lots of people I've never heard of again! I wondered if they'd got so many this time to allow for anyone droppng out, like in previous series? Anyway I was a bit peeved not to see any dancing, hope next week is better after looking forward to it so much lol!
Had a lovely thai curry last night, courtesy of ds's cooking skills, then a lovely blackberry and apple crumble with custard - plenty of that left for today as well.
Need to sort out the utility room, make some bread, tidy the kitchen, check how much of my baking from the other day remains for next weeks packed lunches, and then it's roast pork for dinner, nice loin from the half pig we got the other other week, veg pie for me!
Off for a catch up now xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
morning all
hugs to all that need
MSD we are having roast chicken and trimmings today too nomnomnom
Moliere I enjoyed strictly last night ( never watched it before ) bit disappointed they didnt dance though lol
Haribo hope you are feeling better
DD1 is doing cooking for GCSE (dont think they call it that these days) but she has just presented me with a list of stuff she needs for tomorrow morning . I am really cross because the schools shopping list is most definitly not OS and it is going to take me above my budget. ( plus DD says she doesnt want to take stuff in that has value written all over it:rotfl:) so now I have to go to Mr T,s again
hope everyone has agreat day0 -
wmf - glad things went ok yesterday, finger's all crossed for today for you!
redruby - your bedding bargains sound good, if the bank have sorted out my account I shall have a look tomorrow, all the kids need new sheets, I wish I knew what they did to them to destroy them though?!
Kathy - hope the headache doesn't return x
sistercas - I decant the kids cooking stuff, well dd2's as she's the only one who cares whether things are value or not, don't know if that would be practical for your ingredients?
Whatatwit - what did you buy yourself, ohhh I am soooo nosy!
differentcorner - if you find that things don't seem to turn out quite right when you bake, have a look at any of Delia's recipes, you just can't go wrong with them if you folllow them to the letter. Twink's hobnobs are dead easy as well, just keep an eye on them so they don't get too browned. Good luck! I stopped buying junk so that they couldn't eat it, and it's worked a treat, only thing is they now like to take extra hm goodies to share out with their mates (well except ds, who I suspect is actually selling my cakes and biscuits!)
N9eav - glad the wedding went well, and having their own ale created, very swish! Did the cake make it in one piece?
dogrose - I've been following the feed your family for £20 thread, I thought I could stretch food, but there are some really good ideas on there, what I love is everyone cheering Mbaz on to succeed, I'm dying to see what she is planning on for next month now!
Good luck to all those with footie or rugby matches today, ds just has rugby training this morning, so no need to stand and cheer! Really foggy here though, so hope they can see each other lol!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
hi all! this is my first post on the daily thread!
Tried my hand at cheese straws last night, they went a bit cheese whirl shaped, but the BF loved them! going to make more today! Also made a mars bar crispy tray ' bake' (even though there is no baking involved lol) going to add more to it today to make it double the size, cut it into chunks and take them to work (i usually buy mars bars at work - hopefully this will stop that!) also going to attempt Twink's Hobnobs
Was my first MSE day yesterday. Spent £19.33 in asda, but have enough to make about a months worth of treats, lunch every day for work for 5 days and some essentials like shampoo and toothpaste etc. I think i did pretty well!
going to morrisons today to get the 3 bottles of own brand pop for £1.09. 1 bottle lasts me a week at work (me and BF used to spend about £1.80 each a day on cans of coke from the drinks machine!) I dont like water very much, and juice gives me asthma attacks
i think i'll go and melt some mars bars now...
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all,
Yay, day off!!
Dogrose - I was the same with my brother, when he left for uni I had already moved into his room by the evening :rotfl:
Sistercas - Could you give your DD value stuff in jars - e.g. put some flour in a jar, some butter in a plastic box etc...I forgot my cooking stuff once and was asked to pay for school stuff (£1 per egg  ). Unfortunately I didn't have any money on me and so was given a detention
Was going to go to the carboot but cannot be bothered
Need to go to Tavi though as need coathangers, Woolies have 20 wooden ones for £8 atm. Will also pay some of my council tax whilst I'm there. I want to buy a blender for soup, as the blender for my kenwood got stolen by my ex (plus all my xmas decs). I wouldn't mind but he is only going to throw them away, as he is now living in a caravan and would not use them anyway.
Well, have a good one :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

Oh, I meant to say - a few days ago I made a cottage pie. I used oats to bulk it out and stretch it.....
It was gross.
It turned out like a meat porridge - really claggy and had a nasty chalky texture. At first I thought 'Oh ideal, oats are a natural thickener, so I won't have to add gravy granules', but it was horrid. What did I do? I only put in two handfuls of oats (my hands hold about an ounce)We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0
