Thats a lot of money to rent a place, the only good thing is that you get your deposit back at the end. Are properties expensive in your area? round my way, the average cost of renting a 2 bed flat is £650.

My insurance would be very high indeed hun - thats why I keep telling myself to forget about it, and wait until next year.

Hehe, yeah that could've been embarrassing. :D

    Evening,

Hayley- 1 bed's are from £525-£650 and 2 bed's are £600- 695. We're thinking of getting just a one bed. If all things go to plan we will only be in rented for about 12 months before being able to buy. And if things work out on the baby front the cot could just come in our bedroom. I know the difference isnt much in costs but an extra £50 could be used for other things or saved. :)

Im having a de-cluttering evening, ive got so much 'things' in my room that are just taking up space which i never use, or are pointless. Like teddies! dont they just anoy u and collect dust! My OH always buys me a teddy for valentines, yes very sweet but they get in the way! One is huge!!! Nearly a metre tall!
Im going to have a good sort out and again try to get my junk to a minimum!

Got my pay slip today, i only made 2 3/4 extra hours last week, so made an extra £10.

That is exciting about renting somewhere and trying for the baby too! Myself and OH have decided to carry on renting for a couple of years and try and save up for somewhere to buy too.

Cool, do you rent with a private LL wendz? Yeah, we plan on saving while renting too, but not sure how much will be left out of our income to save!

Yeah we do. We share a flat with my sister at the moment which makes it slightly cheaper but she wants to move to South London so we will be finding a flat for ourselves soon. It will help us when i have paid off my overdraft and my dad as i will have more to put in savings.

Maybe you could do estimates of how much everything will be in a spreadsheet and see how much you will have left. You might just have to make sure you cut back on non essential spends. Although i am sure you do that already with the amount you have saved up!

Your doing pretty well with your overdraft and dad's money by the look of things hun! :) That will be nice getting a place for just you and your OH. :) I cant wait! we've been together nearly 7 years...its about time we lived together!

Yeah we have jotted down estimates of what we think will be outgoing every month. But its hard to know, ive just looked at what people pay on here for there gas & electric etc to get a rough idea.
We've worked out it will cost us about £800 rent & household bills PCM and then there's mobiles, petrol, food etc that we need to add on also which will probably take us upto around £1100. Leaving us with about £500 a month to put into savings and for MOT's etc.

Im not sure how we will be working out the money side of things yet living as a couple. I think ive read on here somewhere not to get a joint account if one person has a bad credit history. What we might do is he pays the rent as that nice and simple! And then i pay the bills, food, petrol etc. As it will roughly be the same amounts for each.

That sounds like a good idea if it adds up to about the same amount. Can get really complicated, my sister pays for the rent at the moment and some bills and i pay other bills so we have to work out each month who owes who what. Is a nightmare. Going to work out a simpler method when we get our own place.
  • Hi sounds exciting getting your new place.

Its up to you how to arrange your finances but just a thought, doesn't he earn much more than you? I always wonder how couples cope with paying the same outgoings when one earns less as that leaves one with much less disposable income. But I know that is how alot of people do it.

    We have joint finances.

Yes, i did say this to him. I said i will only be left with about £50 if that at the end of the month. but he said dont be silly his money is OUR money! What he gets left with at the end of the month will be for both of us. Maybe one of us can open an account and have both our wages paid into it but only under one name. I know theres a section on here about joint accounts...think i'll have a look right now actually.

Ive just looked and yes joint accounts are a no no for us. Even joint names on bills can effect my credit history apparantly! We will sort something out. :)

I said to OH today and to around his room and find 10 things to sell on Ebay and i will do the same for a bit of extra cash. He has sooo many DVD's im hoping he might get rid of a few, as i dont want him bringing them all with him! hehehe

He still hasnt sold his car seats yet which is a pain as there worth around £600. Theres been plenty of interest in them but there only offering about half that!

We really dont want to touch any of the £10k as only want it to be for house deposit, and want it to stay in the bank for the interest. So we need to raise about £1500 for fee's, deposit and rent before we can move out.
