The answer is 1330, had my OH on this all afternoon. He wouldn't give up. It's not a road but the southern door to the Baptistry which is in the shadow of the catherdral. It was built in 1330. It is correct as I have just had congratulations you have solved the Riddle:j :j :j
Well done to your OH! Thanks.0 -
Wow, how on earth did he work it out? I couldn't even read the question properly!
Big thumbs up to your hubby!Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A
I would like to be lucky,healthy & happy in 2020! :T0 -
Hubby just back from the pub, he can't quite remember how he got the answer, something to do with Pisano, south door, and lanterns. Michelin map did help. Mind you he is quite a clever little bunny, unlike me.:j :j :j,0

Thanks very much. :T Without your confirmation, I would not have been certain that the reference to the South Door of the Baptistery was correct.
Maybe the question was badly translated and said Road instead of Door?
For info, the date can be found by choosing Michelin Map and Tourist Info. There the Baptistery is a long way down the list.
I guess the references to Evangelist and Government in the clues relate to John the Baptist in the upper medallions of the door, and that Florence was the seat of government before Rome and Signoria means government.0 -
Thanks Izzy and your OH, I was just coming back to this after giving up yesterday afternoon! You've saved me from another headache!lol

The last question is up.
The extra clue (as I got it) is In Granada, the universal treasure glows red and dominates all other sites.
Now, this is DEFINITELY the Alhambra (and I've been there, sorry to namedrop!) but the clue refers to a "gem" and there only appears to be 5 letters in the answer. I've just looked at Wiki and it says that Moorish poets described it as a "pearl set in emeralds". So, is it pearl then? EDIT - NO IT'S NOT! Wrong answer!

Stuck now.
