I read that poem hours ago Kate, its very short and nothing interesting in it at all - no references to help with the riddle. Although Langston Hughes is a Black American man. (Didn't someone mention an American connection?)
Has anyone tried 'light' or 'hamra'? I think the 'jewel' may be the alhambra itself and possibly not a gemstone at all.0 -

That's what I was thinking earlier too, it might not be an actual gem, but a way to describe the place itself, but I'm confused now!!0 -

Re the entries, if you get 4 entries correct, you are entered in to the draw for the ipods. If you get 6 entries correct, you are entered into the draw for the european breaks. If you get all 7, (tho you can earn a pass by getting someone else to register I think), you are entered into the draw for a holiday to Mauritius. It's in the rules.
I'm not sure about the jewel thing. Al-Hamra means "the red one" so it could be.
