MS-> Barclaycard online account warning

  • Yes, I agree a few teething problems but I for one can certainly now log in online and see all recent transactions including those that went though on the old card after the last MorganStanley statement - their logon is certainly more secure than MorganStanley where you only had to enter your 16 digit card number and a password - the BC system certainly needs you to jump thorugh a few more hoops before getting into your account but that's probably not a bad thing in this day and age.

    Are any of you having trouble logging in?

    I'm an original BC customer and I've not been able to log in since yesterday.

    Their website is on a go slow has been since about 8pm lastnight. Before 8pm I was able to log in and register and everything worked ok, I even made a payment. I'm guessing it's due to the slight increase in usage, they really should have improved their site network before now knowing this would happen.

    I'm a little confused by their site layout, still getting my head round it. There does appear to be a lack of cashback information, a running total showing what will get credited next statement would have been nice. Being able to see pending transactions is a bonus tho, even if I paniced and tried to work out where I had spent so much in the last two days :P
  • I have finally managed to register and log into the Barclaycard website. The first thing I did was to look for my old statements from MS. There is only one statement available that simply has the lump sum balance transferred from my previous MS statement on it.

    The question is this. How do I check the transactions and look for my previous statements? If I try and log into the MS website I just get forwarded to Barclaycard. All Barclaycard give me is one simulated transaction.
    Where are all my statements? :eek:

    Also, on the subject of cashback, Barclaycard have neglected to point out the inclusion of clause 4 on their "Barclaycard Cashback Bonus Scheme" sheet. £25,000 per year max spending means that cashback is capped at £137 per year, £2400 at 1% and £22600 at 0.5%. Isn't that worth a mention as a "slight change"? It makes the Halifax card with 1% of everything capped at £200 per year look too tempting to refuse.

    Bye bye Barclaycard, I haven't even known you for a week and already I'm off. :p
  • Well if it helps, I have just had my first statement. The entire cashback is credited, that is incl the previous MS cashback earned. It is in reverse order, ie most recent transaction (and the cashback amount) at the top, is it me or is this weird??:confused:

    Alan you previous statements are gooooooooonnnnnnnnneeeeeee.....:o

    I have a Visa card whcih I am debating whether to close or not, hardly used except when earlier this year, they gave me 3% cashback for 3 months.

    I tried to call to get some of that limit transferred to the Bcard cashback card, but 'it is not linked' so can't be. I thought it was possible? anyone had any experience of this?

    I too am tempted by either halifax or Egg money and bye bye both Barclaycards!

    I have to say that I did find the new website a bit busy this morning, but did register and it works OK.

    Bombshell is that you cannot access your old MS statements online! And a call to BarclayCard's foreign call centre revealled they wanted me to pay to get paper copies of old statements.

    I don't mind the changes in cashback arrangements, it would be a very small minority who would be worse off. But I do have few fundamental problems with other changes:
    1. Why not wait until the natural expiry of the card instead of inconveniencing customers with this change now. So far as I can see it is just being done for vanity;
    2. The card has "cashback" written on it! That's between me and the provider - I don't need, or indeed want, a retailer to know that fact;
    3. MS used to have a freephone helpline - that connected to a UK call centre. Barclay's doesn't.
    I applied for an AmEx Platinum cashback card today. :beer:

    And another thing :eek: If you know someone's 16 digit card number, and date of birth, you can call up and an automated service will tell you how much is outstanding on their account, how much is left in the tank, and thus by simple rithmatic, what their credit limit is!

    Nice and secure eh? :o

    Just wondering if I got the same card like the rest of you. Mine was Leeds BS Credit card, now run by Barclays. On the back of the card, there is a freephone number 0800 085 3976. Althought it does connect to Indian call centre (pretty useless), from my memory, it always was Indian call centre! I can't get the online banking work either.....since the change-over!

    Just tried again, it works fine now. By the way, I have 3 credit cards with Barclays. Two of them with full balance 0%. And I think they are ok.

    The sheet entitled "Barclaycard Cashback Bonus Scheme" is part of the welcome pack. It details how the new bonus scheme works including how Barclaycard can withdraw it any time they please by giving 30 days notice.

    I must also say that I agree with pvt. It hadn't occurred to me about a retailer knowing that you are receiving cashback.
  • I'm still interested in why they won't allow me to do a balance transfre. Any ideas?
