Well despite being told by Barclays that we can register for their online account service as of 22nd September, I have just tried (eager girl that I am) and their online account service is temporarily down! I have used the link through from the old morgan stanley account centre site - it redirects you automatically to barclaycard site - but unable to register - have not tried to register directly through the barclays website, no time now, will have to try later.

I've just registered, on the 22nd as mentioned, and can't get in to the online account that has been set up. Strangely I haven't had an e-mail 'welcoming me' to online servicing which I would expect as a matter of course.

I've tried ringing both the main customer services and the internet line and it simply rings out without any pre-recorded message at all. After about three minutes it simply cuts off.

The thing is I want to pay my bill, and yet don't seem to have received a recent statement, and even if I had presumably it would be a bad idea to pay to the old bank account details (MS/Goldfish) as presumably these are no longer active.

My guess is that they're snowed under - just for a change the customer is anything but King:mad:

I expect the old bank details will work fine. Once you get a statement for the new card, you'll have to switch to the Barclaycard bank account.
  • Well they've lost a Morgan Stanley customer already. I tried to set up my internet account and it wouldn't let me log in with no reason detailed. My fella received his pin number for his card 2 weeks ago and still no card received, he couldn't sort it as they asked for his 16 digit number when he rang! errrr, he hasn't got the card so how would he know the number???? I rang to cancel and they gave me the whole "what can we do to keep you" etc and then told me that I would still have the cashback for 6 months!!! Well that did it for me, the barclaycard does not have the benefit of the MS cashback after 6 months so I think did the right thing in cancelling. I like to chose which I company I have a credit card with. rant over.

Same here, registered, said it was successful, yet each logon attempt fails. I called the customer services line early in the afternoon and was told they have technical problems because of all the registrations and that it should work in 24 hours time.

Not a good start. I don't have a great deal of faith in Barclays since they took £3000 out of my savings account claiming they accidently put somebody elses cheque in and returned mine - all wrong, taking me a month to sort out and the fiasco of their Cash Beater ISA too.

Also, my PIN and card came together on the same day in envelopes containing a very similar undelivered address on the back - they used different mailing companies but obviously didn't realise that they just get passed on to the Royal Mail to actually deliver to the customers!

Could you elaborate on this a little bit? As I read it you are saying they told you that the cashback would only last for 6 months, am I right?
Could you also maybe tell us which card you had originally and which card Barclays gave you (there were several changing over) this will help other people that might not yet be aware of what you have been told.

I was a MS Platinum card holder and I now have a Barclaycard Cashback. There is no mention of either an annual charge or a time period for the cashback in their documentation. They do mention that the last date you could get a cashback cheque sent out was the 21st of August. I got that in a letter on the 19th of September, after both my new card and PIN had arrived.
My issue with them is that they are now paying the cashback directly to the card. I was using my cashback as a hidden stash waiting to be claimed and spent on presents that only I knew I had; now that option is being taken from me.
I'm also not sure about the new cashback capping, I might be wrong but I think MS Plat was 1% on first £2k earned in a year; new terms are 1% on first £200 a month (0.5% thereafter) they are saying this is up from £2k to £2.4k but in reality for those of us with varying monthly expenditure (sometimes over £200 a month but always less than £2k a year) we will be loosing out on cashback. Unless I am wrong about the MS figures, can't check it now, Barclay's have setup a domain redirection to their own site.

I'm very interested to hear what other people are saying about this, I am considering telling them to stuff it and applying for Egg money.
  • After being a very happy Morganstanley customer who has had a very efficient online card managment system in operation, I am VERY dissapointed in the "service" that Barclaycard is yet to show.

After all the letters and the seamless transition quotes that the 22 Sept 08 would be the day that all the services got transferred, it is another reason for me to move accounts on yet another takeover.

I wonder what day this week we can expect anyone to register for the online servicing. Hope no one had any outstanding Morgan bills to pay off.

I did, I bought petrol on Sun 14th, as of yesterday, it still didnt appear on the MS online bill. wonder if they forgot :j

I had hoped, that already having a BCard Visa, I would be able to log in and register the Cashback Mastercard, thus having one log in. Clearly not. Two long customer numbers to remember:o . Me thinks the Visa is going, it is of little use to me, (they gave me £5 cashback for 3 mths earlier on in the year). If I cancel then it leave me open to apply for another Visa, either a cashback one if they do it in the future or a low rate one, should I need that.
