I'm so sick of seeing job adverts from these people.
One that I keep coming across is MCC (Midlands Consulting Centre) who seem to pop up in every search section of the Reed website at the moment...
"Hospitality & Catering experience? You're perfect for Sales!"
"Graduate but still unemployed? You're perfect for Sales!"
"No experience? No problem! You're perfect for Sales!"
 ....... :wall:
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.0 -
Thank god for google and moneysavingexpert. Coming across this was very much appreciated. I'm supposed to have an interview with Blackcode Advertising tomorrow morning but after reading enough posts on this forum it seems like a total waste of time.
The whole thing seemed off, from the exciting phone call telling me the "managing director himself has looked at your CV and chosen you". Followed by a dubious email totally unclear on anything about the job other than how to get to the office. Then the even more dubious and elusive information and stock photos on the website. Eventually I was lead here, so thanks for saving me the embarrassment of thinking I was being offered a good honest job!0 -
G Force marketing [text deleted by MSE Forum Team] has changed its name to Frontline Events.
If you look at this link: http://bizzy.info/uk/companies/g_force_marketing_limited/co_no/05057461/
you can see that it was changed on the 1st October 2010 [text deleted by MSE Forum Team].
Frontline Events are also based in Dickinson House, 20 Dickinson Street, Manchester where many of the previous companies have also been based. So if you're unsure of a company, checking the address would be a good starting point.
The "Managing Director" is Gillian O'Brien. I don't know if anyone has come across her before?0 -
Well it seems that these companies are still going, I am quite happy though thatover 100,000 people have viewed this thread and hopefully loads of them havent been fooled by the scam. I hope that eventually everyone is aware of these scams and they will go out of business!!0

) and desperate for a job (I mean the WORST time to graduate!), saw this advert and thought I would go for it, as other graduate schemes with actual companies I know and have heard of were genuine and hadn't wgot past the initial telephone interview. the "company" I started with (lasted about 4 days?) were Oval Innovations [TEXT DELETED BY ABUSE TEAM]in Maidstone, Kent and I won't even bother going through my "interview" process or how crap the "job" turned out to be as it is the same as everyone else here.
I'm so glad I got out while I could- I have loads of people I know and seen people on facebook talking about [TEXT DELETED BY ABUSE TEAM] and how they are happy about being whittled down from 200 applicants to just 12 (like they say to everyone I'm sure!) and I warn them, but some think it's different to what I have done. They aren't stupid and I'm pretty sure they'll get out soon enough (I hope they do anyway!)
I was told, like others, that my parents would be against it (they were unsurprisingly!) and told me standard answers to give when questioned about it. Thankfully, although my parents don't tell me what to do, I listen to them and when they had reservations I decided to be a bit more cautious. After walking around for 8 hours in the rain on an interview, without getting one 'customer' and having colleagues who seemed uninterested in anything I had to say, I decided to give it one more shot. I'm not the pushy type and so door-to-door sales isn't really for me and after 'going solo' for one day and having doors slammed in my face (unsurprisingly) I told my 'helper' I wasn't going back. he tried to convinve me that 'we are all a team here' and tomorrow he would help me 'realise my potential'- instead I stayed in bed and never went back.
Although I left because I realised I didn't have it in me to do that and i was depressed after just 4 days, i'm glad I did after reading these forums and understanding I'm not the only one to fall for something like this. they are so convincing and I can understand why people would!
Anyway, now i'm at a company that is fantastic, and have been promoted after 2 months so it's clear what a difference a good job makes!
Glad you posted this thanks, my girlfriend was approached by Oval innovations in Brighton with links to ovaluk dot co dot uk www dot ovalinnovation dot com. After reading all this it seems they are a DOOR TO DOOR sales company paid on a COMMISSION ONLY BASIS offering false promises of promotion in the company to senior levels and false expectation of a good salary.0 -
Reading this thread reminds me when I was 18 years old and naive, looking for a "career" and not just a job and I went to Maidstone for a interview for a company named Cobra marketing. I actually went door knocking on the same day, I didn't take the job because it was commission- only basis but didn't realise all the brain washing techniques which I now reflecting on must have been in play. (they were all really friendly, text me later that evening etc!)
Even though I didn't take it (thank God) I feel sorry for some people that do.
If you get an interview and you don't like the sound of door knocking for small change, then stay in bed.0 -

Hmm, yeh  I didn't speak to anybody today regarding an interview.
I really dislike these companies.

Hi all,
I have an interview tomorrow with LIVE MARKETING COMPANY offered by Danielle Hobbs.I accidently found this website while preparing for the interview.I am very concerned after reading the comments. Is it really dodgy and commission based?
Thanks0 -
I had an interview with Cedar Direct in Nottingham a couple of years back. My first interview was more of a chat about football - manger trying to be best pals with you! I got the golden phonecall later on that evening telling me how well I'd done...to wear comfortable shoes etc. I got the train to their 'office' again next morning and then was lucky enough to be working with their top account manager - I was very honoured. Thankfully we were canvassing in my home town so when I realised it was door to door, I told the very gobsmacked chap I was leaving and was able to walk home. I had just made myself a cuppa before the heavens opened...!0

SMS Marketing in norwich are exactly the same, don't know if they've been mentioned on here yet, but i went for the first and second interviews about 6 months ago. On the second day i shadowed the door to door sales people and ended up having an argument with the lead guy, where he told me he hadn't quite a 100k job in London to do door to door sales and I politely explained he was doing door to door sales as we spoke! I believe a company called JMS Marketing has popped up in norwich now too which is very similar, they both have about 5-6 job offer posts on most of the employment sites in East Anglia. People continued to get sucked in by them, i only hope they read these threads before applying for jobs.0
