i worked for a company in the Cobra Group with Dave Coulson in 2004 when he was training up to be an MD....Jonboy is totally spot on, this is a complete scam, i was totally taken in and ended up in a lot of debt and almost lost my all my friends, i cant believe it is still going on now!!! Something has got to be done! I only googled the coulson corporation as the name rang a bell when my brother in law said he had an interview there but was dubious. Dont be tempted by all the !!!!!!!! ... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!0
-
This thread has really helped me in the past, as I have been contacted by so many of the companies mentioned here! In fact, I refused two interviews just yesterday.
However, now I am rather wary of any marketing company and would like to know if anyone has ever had dealings with CAROLINA CONSULTING, who are based in London but, according to their website, are opening up offices elsewhere in the country. The website looks sufficiently different to the others that I've looked at but it's also vague in its wording in exactly the same way. Their website is at carolinaconsultingltd.co.uk/Home_Page.html.
Am I being scammed yet again (for the millionth time!) or am I being just plain paranoid? If anyone can help me out, I'd be so, so grateful!0 -
they are exactly the same, im sorry to tell you. I've seen it in other forums i think...
Im so tired of these companies, and sending emails to reed and job sites doesnt seem to help coz they dont even reply to the email... it's frustrating and annoying..0 -
Dont worry, if u sent an email saying you wont go probably they'll leave you alone.
Those emails are already written, you can do that with word. They just have to write a different name and date for every person.
Usually if you dont show up and you dont call, theyll call you again and they'll send you a couple of emails asking you if it was their fault (probably coming from the "office manager") They might call you too to confirm you are going to the interview or to ask if you want to re-schedule. It's pretty annoying..
That girl probably exists, but her job is just to download cvs and call those people to book them with the rest of the interviews.... Very interesting job..0 -
Its a shame that some people dont find out till they have wasted a few days with them though!
I really wish i had found this thread before monday, I have just wasted 3 days with Oval Innovation, and feel absolutely gutted that i'm not going to get anything from it. They got me in there with the promise of earning good money, but something does did not seem right, for such a supposed "Leading marketing firm" (there words not mine) there office was !!!!, really bad, the hours where terrible, i was waking at 8am and then not getting home till about 11 30pm!!! They where really uninformative, i asked several time what my basic pay was, only to have them keep blowing me off saying someone would tell me later, and they completely lied about the time i would be working.
I have been truely screwed by this, so please guys and gals, dont let this happen to you too!0 -
Has anyone dealt with a company called Blackcode advertising in Brighton? friend has second interview with them tomorrow at 12 so would like to save her the train money and effort if this is a scam as it sounds like a similar situation I had with powerhouse!!0
-
Blackcode advertising: from their site (which is awfully bare compared to how big they say they are)Blackcode Advertising is a specialist direct marketing company. We are contracted to represent a variety of businesses that either do not have their own sales/marketing team or find that it is much more economical to outsource the work. We provide these companies with a dedicated, product trained and professional team to market their products and/or services.Today Blackcode Advertising serves hundreds of leading clients in a range of market sectors such as utilities, telephony, financial services / insurance, security, charities and promotional marketing. We provide all this and more through our word of mouth marketing campaigns delivered by an enthusiastic, committed and professional team.
aaand.. this is interesting. the picture in "opportunities at blackcode" looks an awful lot like the place i went to in newcastle, including the people in the picture. (edit: none of which match the images of their manager team)
(google blackcodeadvertising to find their site. should be the one at the top. clicking about shows you the rather funny two man manager team - if they are that big.. how come only two people seem to be working there as manager + answering machine and cv downloader. oh sorry "head admin")
strike that. hit their "opportunities" tab and you see their step by step program that will make you a manager in 10 weeks! (no. you'll still be walking the streets knocking on doors hoping that maybe this month you wont be out of pocket)0 -
Yeah...it did seem like a very similar situation that i had with powerhouse (i went to first interview and decided not to go back to the second day). I wouldn't be surprised if they were the exact same people.
Anyway, my friend went along to her second interview and yes it is yet another door to door 100% commission based "scam". the company is, as mentioned;
Blackcode Advertising
1-6 Grand Parade
Brighton BN2 9QB
Just to make people aware of this company so people dont fall in a similar trap and waste time with these companies!
also a strange idea popped up in my head...i might start a facebook page dedicated to these companies as a sort of "make people aware of other peoples experiences with these companies" if anyone thinks this is a good idea? as this website has been very helpful and facebook seems a good way of spreading the word!
many thanks.0 -
I like the idea of facebook. Actually the big company where most of them come from EA Worldwide Acquisitions, has a page on facebook too.
I know the cobra group with does the same has also facebook, where a lot of people talk about their experiences, but it's not very serious about warning people, they just talk about pas texperiences working there.
Also, their managers have facebook, like Johan Gericke, Warren Roach, Olivia Coudert, Duncan Sharp, Courtney Sagar (cv downloader) , Sara Beth King Cote, Samuel Green, Erica Wright (ads on jobsites), Justin Cobb, Stacey Kehoe (head cv downloader), Tim Kennedy, Natasha Kiziltan (ads on job sites). Maybe they should all be fans of that facebook page if u put it...0 -
As mentioned...ive set up a facebook page to help spread the word! links here :
facebook.com/group.php?gid=103263926378811
any way of making this page better will be much appreciated (as this is my first group i've ever made)
and itll be nice to get as much support from people who have had experiences as possible,
Many thanks
