An acquaintance of mine is apparently a team leader at Arcedia Direct's Cardiff office and was trying to get people involved through his facebook. I left my contact details and got received a call back to arrange an interview for tomorrow. I found it odd that the person who called me didn't take any personal details from me and when I checked their website I found it weirdly devoid of information.
Needless to say I shall not be attending the interview and shall probably not be having much further contact with the person who tried to get me involved in this. I'm fortunate enough to already have a job - this kind of thing is very unfair on people struggling to find work.
How can incidents like those detailed in this thread be reported?0 -
Blackcode advertising: from their site (which is awfully bare compared to how big they say they are)
*snip*
*snip*
it is safe to say: its door to door sales. sounds like the exact same type of thing as the previous ones listed here.
aaand.. this is interesting. the picture in "opportunities at blackcode" looks an awful lot like the place i went to in newcastle, including the people in the picture. (edit: none of which match the images of their manager team)
(google blackcodeadvertising to find their site. should be the one at the top. clicking about shows you the rather funny two man manager team - if they are that big.. how come only two people seem to be working there as manager + answering machine and cv downloader. oh sorry "head admin")
strike that. hit their "opportunities" tab and you see their step by step program that will make you a manager in 10 weeks! (no. you'll still be walking the streets knocking on doors hoping that maybe this month you wont be out of pocket)
Just looked at the Blackcode Advertising site - least informative document I've ever seen. Either their clients have the least imaginative names ever (National Telecoms Company, National Multiplex Cinema Chain, Leading UK Banking Institution) or they don't have any of these clients and using an actual name would be potentially libelous. If you had large, prestigious clients, you'd name them on your site.0 -
Hi all,
I had an interview with Pure Solutions direct this afternoon, I have now cancelled it thanks to all the comments. I googled them aswell. Very dodgy.
Thanks all again, you saved me a trip! :-)I am currently paying back my repossession shortfall about £13,000 to go!! but still smiling:j0 -
Got an interview for OMS in Leeds shortly.
Done alittle research and know a few people who say you do not get a basic wage, but they are friendly and give you good interview feedback. Safe to say I will not be going for the job, but it does give me preparation for future interviews, so for that reason I will be going to the interview.
Do some people think I been daft for doing this, or do some people see it as a sensible thing to do?0 -
A close relative of mine, a young man went for an interview with an Organisation in Reading and has been working for them for 6 weeks. The business model would appear to be the same as JPK advertising and the other companies mentioned in this thread. He is a door to door salesman for a utility company. Paid commission only and self employed.
The trouble is he is totally focussed and won't hear a word said against them. He leaves the house at 9a.m. and returns around midnight. He has worked for them for 6 weeks and he says he has been paid £700 (from which he should pay his tax and national insurance stamp). He continues to work for them believing he will eventually earn his fortune.
I am concerned that some form of brainwashing is used to motivate people like him. I also think this is a cynical method of employing people to do your work and avoiding the payment of the minimum wage.
If utility companies are happy with this situation they should be exposed for inadvertantly using slave labour. No doubt they give substantial sums to marketing companies to drum up business. If this is the price of cheap eletricity and gas are you happy to switch to the cheapest supplier?0 -

I have also been subjected to this horrible scam. I think it is disgusting that they are still able to operate, especially after this has been going on for such a long time.
Something must be done.0 -
Ive bin in my job for 4 months now on one of these so called scams.,I can see the frustration as to why people feel they get conned.I still feel i got conned into the business too because i didnt apply for the job either and when i came for my interview the second time i was whisked away to some area watching what was going on and thinking ''i dont think i can do this''
I know the strain of commission based earnings and know it can be tough. My first week i made just under £140 and i thought 'this isnt for me' but i knucked down and carried on and now i make around £400 a week and has been as high as £800 a week. The scam bit of it isnt true because you get paid real money and i have seen some of my friends get promoted and i have seen them make big money and open up offices and stuff.I think half the people who write blogs are people who has never gave the business a chance and have never seen people get promoted so they just presume its all a scam. How i see it is that if you never started,or you quit then thats because you couldnt sell or you gave up,because the people around me have proven to me that there is light at the end of the tunnel all i got to do is get there. Have a gooden peeps, happy job hunting x0 -
