I would just like to say that I had the same first interview with jms marketing in Newcastle, the second interview I will now be cancelling, I must have had the same three short skirted receptionists, loud R & B music, two month old Heat magazine, and sharp suited 'managers' I did a google search and....well it's all pedictable really. I need a regular wage, not a self employed commision based door to door £30 now and then maybe wage. It's enough to make you cry! By the way according to companies house jms marketing has only been in existance for 9 months, it is 'based' in Sheffield, watch out for it please.0

everyone one who is saying these companies are scams are just to thick to be able to work in them, they take NO money from you, if you don't do well, they make NO money from you. If they're not taking your money how is it a scam. If they need you to do well why would they not care about or help you. I work there now with a lot of other people, if you cant work hard enough to do a commission based job then that's just your problem have fun with your salary working 9-5 :T0

Ive bin in my job for 4 months now on one of these so called scams.,I can see the frustration as to why people feel they get conned.I still feel i got conned into the business too because i didnt apply for the job either and when i came for my interview the second time i was whisked away to some area watching what was going on and thinking ''i dont think i can do this''
I know the strain of commission based earnings and know it can be tough. My first week i made just under £140 and i thought 'this isnt for me' but i knucked down and carried on and now i make around £400 a week and has been as high as £800 a week. The scam bit of it isnt true because you get paid real money and i have seen some of my friends get promoted and i have seen them make big money and open up offices and stuff.I think half the people who write blogs are people who has never gave the business a chance and have never seen people get promoted so they just presume its all a scam. How i see it is that if you never started,or you quit then thats because you couldnt sell or you gave up,because the people around me have proven to me that there is light at the end of the tunnel all i got to do is get there. Have a gooden peeps, happy job hunting x
Same for me, everybody is doing well in the job even people who are shy and never done a job in their lives before, everyone should stop been angry they failed at the job and stop blaming the companies, if you're self employed and you fail then ....... YOU failed :S0 -

Nice that, if your down your down, and I'm alright Jack, work for a penny a day for a few months (impossible if you have to pay your rent or eat) then after maybe a year or two you might be rolling in the money...then again if you become ill or lose your home or starve, well then that's just too bad then isn't it?
The only way to get rich in the marketing business is to set up your own business and have people slave for you! You'll never get rich by digging a ditch...likewise you'll never get rich by being the first step of a very tall ladder!

I bet you're one of these 22 yr old MD's ... who claim to be on 1K a day but wearing a Primark suit. I feel sorry for all the poor idiots standing on bold street in liverpool wearing cheap suits and holding clip boards, all stood there listening to an 18 year old giving them a motivational speech about success and sales tactics.
How these companies arent illegal yet i dont knw ..
Ohh theres a great facebook group with a HUGEEEEEEEE list of these companies that are dodgy -

Can anyone tell me if Oratory UK are involved in this scam? I've seen trident house, dale street, liverpool being mentioned before, and this too seems like the typical "no experience neccesary", "call back next day" type of scam.
I don't want to go to the interview if it's just going to be as previously described!
Thanks for a heads up

well, it's easy to check. If they talk about a training program to get to management, if they ask u to be over 18, available to work more than 30h a week, no visa student, that can start inmediately.. and talk about their fast progression in the uk and goals of expanding more rapidly, and giving clients what they need, face to face..even EA Worldwide or Live are posting ads about hotel experience, retail or customer service.. If you dont need experience because they're gonna give u all the training noone is at the moment with the recession and they seem to be great and everything you are looking for, it is indeed one of these SCAM companies. Dont waste your time.
Cool group the one on facebook.0 -
OMG this is hilarious!!!!
I worked for won(one) force promotions about 10 years ago
They were based in the cotton exchange in liverpool
Were part of Cobra and another company called DS Maxx
Exactly the same set up as everything ive read here!!!
when its good its very good or to use their words its JUICY!!!
Personally i loved my time there, i had a ball, BUT what a pile of S&!t complete scam!!!!
They even had a company house you could move in to when you parents were trying to NEGYOU OUT cos they didnt understand the business........HMMM
Funnily enough i was on the train a few months back and a few of them got on and the whole script was exactly the same some poor guy who must have been doing well was being talked in to going to the rally poor sod i really should have said something insted of giggling to myself
Cant believe they're still working out of the cotton exchange thou, might pop in im up those ways for a meeting later this week....... ah those were the days 60 hour weeks for about £60 and going thru heels weekly(t'was ok thou cos you could claim it all after the 1st tax year with the help of company accountants)
word of warning to anyone even thinking of doing it- everything youve read on here is true, yes its fun-youll have a ball but omg you work sooooooo hard for nothing!!!!0 -
I'm so glad I found this forum!
I had the misfortune to be contacted by "Business Advertising Ltd" back in December. I was lead to understand that the position I had applied for was call centre based but in the middle of a very rushed interview I was told the roll was customer facing, i.e door-to-door! That is not the sort of thing I am looking for at all!
I felt mislead.
Last week I was contacted by "P-D Marketing". A very up-beat receptionist/secretary going by the name of Tiffany congratulated me and told me that my CV had been accepted and that she would like to invite me for a preliminary interview.
This sounded very familiar and alarm bells began to sound.
As before, I received the same e-mail with directions to the Cotton Exchange building in Bixteth Street, Liverpool city centre.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt, surely lightening couldn't strike twice in the same place! I did some research, googled the company name and was lead to these forums.
I emailed them back withdrawing my application and received the following:
"Thank you for your email. I am sorry to hear you have cancelled your application with us. We are aware of these internet forums that are affecting our recruitment process. We are part of an organisation called PerDM, we have offices all over the UK. Each office is currently in the process of investigating to have all of the offensive comments removed from the internet forums. They have upset not only our customers and potential candidates but our staff members too. I can confirm we are 100% a legitimate sales and direct marketing company. We are investigating into this matter. However I fully understand your concerns, I too felt this way before my preliminary interview.
I have noticed most of the information you will have viewed describes P&D as a multi level marketing company, a pyramid scheme. Our company is in no way a pyramid scheme a fundamental aspect of this type of company is an initial investment from yourself. At no point you will be asked to provide any monies in support of your application. Also our company has worked extremely hard to acquire the brand name clients we have in our client base. I can assure you we would not be able to achieve these contracts with the likes of Talk Talk and some of the leading charities in the UK, including the British Red Cross. P&D are as advertised, a direct marketing company, we deal with face to face customer acquisitions on behalf of our clients, we use B2B, B2C and events based marketing methods (this means visiting potential customers where they live, work or shop)
We are looking to produce new managers for our campaigns, by offering guidance on our Business Development Opportunity.
Please feel free to visit our website (removed) for further information.
Thank you for your email and for your interest in our company,
Regards,
Tiffany
