i got a call from Platinum Force because they'd seen my cv on monster, went for the first interview, looked dodgy soon as i got there, music blasting from a hi fi, then I had an inteview with the "managing director!" pfffft as if. since when does a managing director conduct interviews, other than maybe at a premiership football club for the managers job??? claimed i would make 500-2000 a week and that clients where HSBC, SKY etc etc. told i had got through to the second phase. Never went back for the second interview!! job sites are just swamped with these companies!!0

Today I attended an interview for Bradford Marketing in Manchester. There was NOTHING in the building to suggest this was a major company.
Where I work now, you see our company logo everywhere. When they gave me an application piece of paper to fill in it was obviously photocopied. I was sent in a room with around 10/15 other people until the Managing Director, Jake Bradford, came down to interview me.
His office had NOTHING to suggest this was a major company. Except the flip chart which had information on that if I was him holding interviews in his office, I would cover up.
In the letter they say they have 2 offices in Manchester and one in Birmingham, Jake told me theres also one in Leeds, Nottingham and Cardiff.
Ive been invited back for the second interview tomorrow but I think I'll have a lie in
I need to go into town anyway, so I figure I'll pop round while I'm there0 -
Hello there I have an interview tomorrow at Bradford Marketing. Is it door to door sales? I've read the posts but there's not that much mention of these as opposed to other Direct marketing companies. Scam or not- I'm definitely no pushy sales person so I may email then to say I made a mistake. Has anyone been to them for an interview recently.0

Ciara, I went for an interview with Bradford Marketing this afternoon. And so did Alibaby a couple of posts up.
I went for laughs. I was going into town anyway and it was a nice day so I wandered around, then went for the "interview." But I didn't go seriously. If you've got better thing to do, really don't go. Here's how it panned out:
Showed up, was met by chiryp-happy-girl who looked liked she'd been on Red Bulls all day at the reception desk. She was SUPER happy to meet me! (Nice of her to say so) Then I got given a poorly photocopied application form where I repeated all the information which was on my CV (had to give in a copy of my CV too.) Handed that back into to cheery-girl. Waited a couple of minutes than Mr Jake Bradford (manager) took me and another girl (who had showed up late for her interview so we got put together) to his office in this tiny lift. His office looks like it doubles up as a staff room. (Either that or he plays darts against himself.)
And then the "interview" happened. I put interview in quotation marks because I learnt all about him but nothing else. He got a degree in sports, he's from Alabama USA, he started off as a customer service advisor and 5 years later he runs the company (uh hu.....sure). His dad is in insurance and he's recently been to America for the Kentucky Derby (and was shocked when I said I'd heard of it.)
Then he asked us both questions which were covered by CV and application form. Clearly he hasn't read any of this information before. Then he told us that we would be very lucky to get a second interview and that Greg from HR (who sounds a lot like Jake from Alabama over the phone) will be in touch this evening (I've already had my "lucky" call! But more about that in a minute) if they want us to come to a secondary interview.
I know nothing about the job, nothing about the salary, hours, what the company actually does! (He named dropped a lot of "clients" but didn't explain what the company did or what the job was about.) He didn't give us a chance to ask questions. He barely gave us a chance to speak! He didn't shut up.
He said they were looking for people to start asap so when would we be available for a secondary "interview" (which is walking the streets knocking on doors. Oh not that he said that - it's a "practical based interview where you get to go out and meet the team and some of our clients"). I said not until Thursday because I had an appointment tomorrow (I dont. I'm having lunch with my Nana). He said that might hold me back.
Five minutes ago I got a call from Greg from HR and guess what! I've been offered a second interview! Hoorah! Guess when? 8:45am TOMORROW. They didn't even listen to me. Nor did he (Greg) ask if tomorrow was good. They're expecting me to show up at 8:45 and be there until 2pm. At least. "Being out and about." Oh and dress smartly because I'll be meeting clients (forward slash people living on dodgy council estates on the outskirts of the city.) Hah. No. I'm staying in bed and turning my phone off.
In the end it's up to you, but if you've got any sense (and aren't bored and looking for giggles like I was), don't bother.
Basically, it's a scam. Google "bradford marketing scam" and you'll find it comes up in list of scam companies on other sites as well as this one.0 -
Good job I came across this site. A woman from P & D Marketing phoned me up just then, she claimed she got my CV off fish4jobs and that she had a 'Customer Service' role for me. I immidiately sensed something was up, too many things she said didn't add up, but I put it to the back of my mind. Then she said she would send an e-mail with details of the interview here it is (by the way I took my name out of the e-mail, I've also took out the links because as a new user I cannot post links because of spam):P & D Marketing LtdDear ,

So I was happy I'd got an interview, and as with every interview I decided to do some research. I typed in P & D Marketing in google, and 'scam' came up, which confirmed my feeling that something wasn't quite right. Needless to say I won't be attending the 'interview' on Monday, which is in the Cotton Exchange in Liverpool.
I was lucky because I found this site, but if things are really as bad as described, then keep up the good work in reporting these companies.
Thanks again

Thanks for this. I was going to go to an interview today with them but after researching and finding lots of info about it (especially the above post), ive decided not to go.
I didn't feel comfortable from the start with the job description - way too vague and then when I got a call from them they spoke so fast and in such a sales way that I had begun to think that it would be interesting just going for the interview for an experience.
You've saved me a trip. Thank you.0
