  • Just a note to say haggling with Sky seems to have a got a lot harder. I rang up with the 'cutting our outgoings' speech and that we desperately didnt want to move but, needs must. After waiting 30 mins to speak to them and haggling for another 20 mins, I only managed to get £30.00 off next month and some advice on cutting out unnecessary channels we rarely watch. Not like the good old days of 6 months half price..................

told them i dont really watch the packages i have, so they gave me the kids mix for £3 a month for the next 3 months, which is good as the kids love it, just got to remember to ring back in 3 months to re-negotiate the deal:j

But, isn't it already £1 extra per month per standard mix package (excluding premium packages)?

ZARA probably means that the Kids mix @ £3 per month for three months is all she's paying for. It's one of the current Cancellations dept. offers, afaik.
  • Had a similar experience when I was offered 6 months free line rental only to be told that I should first contact BT to find out if I am in any tie-in contract. I did that next day and went back to sky that they can switch by landline to them as I am not bound to BT anymore. I was told that there is no 6 months free line rental offer and that they have never heard of this, and that there are no comments on my account regarding this.
I raised my complain on this and asked to transfer to cancellation and this was the only reason I was willing to stay with Sky. After being on hold for 10 minutes, the guy come back and told me that someone in the cancellation department must have offered me this (which was true) and that he will get a manager to call me back. Next day someone called from Sky and did confirmed that I will get 6 months free line rental as promised.
However, when arranging for the Sky+ installation date, I was told that the comments on my account is that I should have 12 months free line rental which I happily accepted.

Moral... say you want to cancel as you are moving out for 6 months, and that Sky has changed their mind about what was promised. You will ultimately got what you want, its just a matter of who you speak with in Sky team.
    Hope it helps.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
    Currently have -
    Sky + 2 mix package = £18
    Sky + Multi-room = £10
    Sky Talk Unlimited = £5
    Sky Broadband Base = £Free

Spoke to retentions department, regretably informing them i need to cut costs.

Was immediately offered Line Rental £10 a month, but free for 1st 12 months - which i accepted (removes my bt line rental charge).
Further discussion also got me my Sky Talk Unlimited free for 12 months also.

Apparently it's a limited offer and available to me as I've been with them for over 3 years. (although this is the 3rd retention deal I've taken to date!)

Thus for the next 12 months I'll be paying £28 a month for my Sky+ multi-room viewing, free calls (courtesy of www.saynoto0870.com), line rental, and broadband............if only i didn't need multi-room :o lol

I just rang and talked about costcutting etc.

Thy said they had no free line rental offers at the moment, but they quickly offered me 6 months talk unlimited.

I tried in a number of different ways but no joy, so I took them up on the talk unlimited offer which will go back to the talk free package after 6 months.

My switch to sky line rental won't go through til next week, I wonder if it's worth cancelling this and then trying to switch again later ?
  • 15 minutes of my hardest negotiating led me to first cancel my broadband and then cancel my Sky TV
They would not budge at all - no offers whatsoever
    D'Oh!
I've got 30 days to have a rethink

Hi Jim, glad you noticed this. If you don't already have Sky I think this is a top deal!
I still have the advert that was in the Sun newspaper on friday. There are no quotes but the phone number to call is 08442 410721.
It clearly states Sky+HD box offer £75 - normally £150 when you join sky tv with the HD mix from £27 a month.
It says offer ends 10th September.
Please somebody take advantage of this top offer. Believe me as an existing customer I can't get it, grrrrrr!!!!

Hi my first post here ---I have been lurking for the past year or so. I went for this offer today and also mentioned my mum so we received £50 of M&S vouchers each

Rang Sky yesterday givin them the same story need to make cut back etc.. the guys in cancellation offered the following deals

    * 1 mix for 3 months at £3
    * Free 12 months line rental if i took my line over to them
    * Free unlimited calls for 12 months.

Because i've just moved my calls back to BT last week because of sky's extortionate charges for 0845/0870 and the 1280 fiasco i refused the line rental offer.

Instead went for the 1 mix for 3 months.
