Ch4 is now FTA.
You're right, up until very recently, the version on the Sky EPG was FTV, however you could add the FTA versions via add channels, however you didn't get more than now/next info that way. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I usually watch the foreign sats anyway not the British channels.
About the only thing I watch now on British Tv is Minder.0 -

Hope I have posted this in the right place????
Any advice please re Virgin. I have been NTL customer (now Virgin) for 3 years, initially on the Broadband, telephone and TV for £30 package for 12 months.
I wanted to switch to Sky simply because we could get a good deal but BT wanted to charge us £135 to check if our BT line was still active not having been used for 3 years!!!
Anyway I don't have £135 to do this so any advice on how to get my Virgin package cheaper.
I don't have a major set up for the TV just the usual film 4 etc, we don't subscribe to any movie channels just buy one if we fancy one, and we do have a few kids channels ie nick, cbeebies, boomerang and don't want to lose these.
Any advice greatly appreciated thanks.0 -

That seems rridculous - all BT have to do is flick a swicth at the exchange to re-activate a line. Seems odd they woudl charge for you to come back to them. Ring the sales team and say that you are thinking of coming back to them and ask about call packages etc and then just mention that you are with Virgin and that you obviously would expect to pay a setup fee and see what happens.
EDIT: Actually be careful - i assuem if you get BT to re-activate the line they will sign you up to a contract of some sort. You may be best doing it all via sky directly?Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
it seems the previous occupiers had BT here. When we moved in we didn't initially have a phone line due to mobiles and then when we plugged in the TV, the picture was like channel 5 on a really bad day! Seems this estate is on a shared ariel so we opted to go onto NTL as they had a good deal at the time. I think the price quoted is ridiculous.
I contacted sky before BT and was told I would need to contact BT in the first instance to get my line reactivated (which Sky said would be free) which apparently takes 2 working days to organise, then to call Sky back so I can switch. Feel like I'm in a catch 220 -
Our 2 Sky+ boxes will be a year old shortly (and yes - we are getting pestered by warranty companies - but that is a story for another forum).
Is it advisable to take out extended warranty cover on the boxes?
If so, with which company?
(Thanks in advance for any responses I don't reply personally to)0 -
Extended warranty on anything is simply a waste of money.
Just put that money into a high interest account.
You don't need to pay Sky to come out and fix the boxes, you just phone up and tell them to cancel your subscription, they will ask why, you just say well as the box has broken there is no point in paying, first they offer half price fix, when you say you can't pay that, they will offer you free fix. I have never personally known anyone pay. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
