The only working number i can find for free sky customer services is 0800 0512595, i hope this helps someone.

All of the others dont seem to be avalable in my area.
  • Hi all

I'm an existing sky customer and want to upgrade to Sky+...but the £99 one off cost is a bit too much for me to be able to justify. I've tried haggling on the phone and I've also tried the cheeky "yesterday I was offered the box for £49" but to no avail.

Can anyone help? Any up-to-date tips and tricks?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Monstermind

I was wondering if there is any info. about upcomming deals or offers in the next few weeks / months?

Would be real useful right about now - are Sky gonna do any new deals?

    Leonardo!

i already have Sky dish with free channels, have had it for 4 years now. im thinking about getting 2 mixes for 15 quid. currently they are doing 3 months half price. i have two questions:
    a. should i go for a new box as i understand that if i only go for the subscription card i will be tied for a year contract.

    b. how can i haggle them after 3 months if it applies on me as i will be a totally new customer.
although i got the dish and the existing box from sky, they dont have any details of mine on their system.so i will be a new customer.

any advise will be grt , thanks in advance

I would try the " Im going to leave " . When asked why tell them because you want a PVR and you have been given a freeview one. You would like to stay BUT..........
You must be on a premium package though how much is that ????
  • Phone sky to cancel, got sky+ with no multiroom for grand sum of £49 no installation fee!! forgot to upgrade to sports, phoned agained got full package 1/2 price for 3 months, now off to buy lottery ticket!!!

This 'no installation fee' seems to be a con. Our installer (a subcontractor) said the cable run was longer than the standard 20 metres and telephone was more than 10 metres. He charged us £25. When I queried this as I thought it should be a maximum of £10, he said I had to pay for his time in fixing the extra cable!

I couldnt face ringing Sky and holding for 30 mins to query this and was worried that he might do a bad job if I argued too much so I paid. Not very MSE.

Did you have to pay him there and then? If so did you get a receipt? You should prob query it on the free number if its still working but if its wrong and you paid him direct without a reciept you may not be able to claim it back. How much more cable did you actually need? It is a bit of a con really as 20mtrs and 10 mtrs isnt that long to fit those things anyway
    Thanx

Yes, I did pay him, and got a receipt for the cable, as he wouldn't do the work otherwise. I have been waiting two weeks and just wanted to get it over and done with. My experience with Sky is that they couldnt care less and I dont think I would get anywhere by complaining.

Just to warn others, measure the cable lengths before installer arrives and remember you need new cable from the dish to your box.

This worked a treat for me a month or so ago. Got Sky+ with all the normal channels plus sports for 1/2 price over 6 (or was it 5?) months. Said that I couldn't afford £40.50 (which it was going up to) and was going to start with freeview instead.

Just called Sky today (about 2 o'clock) on behalf of my mother to "cancel". She has been a subscriber for about 6 years or so. She has Sky+ with sports and pays £40.50 a month. The best they would offer was to cancel Sky + and reduce the channels to the basic package, making a payment of £15 per month  . Told 'em to stick it and cancelled.

Have 30 days now. Hoping that they will now try to offer a better deal before the 30 days are up. I guess I can just change my mind if they don't??

Anyone ever cancelled and been contacted later with a good deal? Also has anyone had any luck today? Have Sky stopped the deals or has the quota run out maybe?
