I just emailled, saying the problems we'd had, and felt it was costing too much, and I used one of the other poster's examples saying our "friends" pay blah blah blah, why do we pay so much more for a lesser service.
Just be confident, and very polite. And take a day or two to consider the deal they throw at you - we were offered 3 different deals, and ended up getting the one that WE put to THEM (ie. we tailor-designed our offer and asked for the BEST they could do, then accepted the "best" provided they added a free month ontop. Worked wonders!)0 -
I was paying £84 a month for sports, movies, family pack, phone and 4meg broadband, so after seeing this thread and Martins article I phoned Ntl customer service and told them it was too much for me, so I said take away the movies but I want all 3 sports (Ntl do Sky sports 1 & 3 or sports 2 & 3. or all 3 but it costs). They offered me 3 months 1/2 price broadband and 6 months 1/2 price family pack, good start, pushing it I said I would rather have a permanent offer, thier answer was THEY could not do any better but they would put me through to customer retentions if I wanted to CANCEL my package ( I used that WORD) I spoke to them, end result, the package I started with less the movies for £51.24, massive saving. I told my daughter, she phoned 0800 0529403 Customer Relations; retentions/disconnections (this number from https://www.saynoto0870.com), similar package £54.30, she told her friends so let see what happens.:D0

Hi All,
Anybody having any luck with new customer deals?
I want sky+ and am a new customer but even getting a free Sky+ Box and installation is proving difficult! 3 attempts already!
Never mind extra months half price!
Any tips? or info on new deals and best times to call.
Thanks0 -
In March this year Sky asked me if I was interested in subscribing again for 6 months at half price. I said yes please. I already had a dish and was a subscriber earlier.
After 5 months I phoned and cancelled in 1 months time because I couldnt afford to pay the full price. I'm a pensioner.
A week later they phoned back and said they would let me subscribe for another 6 months at half price if I would stay with Sky. I thought about it (for about 5 seconds) and said thank you and that I would stay. So I am continuing to pay £21.75 a month for the full package including Sky Movies and Sky Sports.
Will see what happens at the end of this 6 months!
Thanks to Martin to the tip.0 -
NtL - I rang to cancel the last phone line (I used to have 3, plus analogue TV plus 3mb broadband) and they have offered me 1 x phone for £5.50 pm with free digital base pack TV for life, plus half price 10mb broadband for £17.50 pm. The guy is fitting it all this week. No minimum contract as I am an exisiting customer (with 1 phone line)
They said I will need to call them every 3 months or so to ensure the offers are renewed.
This will replace Bulldog Superactive for £52.95 pm with 8mb broadband and including all 01 calls whose service hasn't been bad but billing & customer services is awful. Also Ntl analogue TV at £14? pm.
I have also just bought Vonage IP phone. £7.99 pm for all 01, US, Canada, Spain, France and Italy calls (for free, anytime). Their box cost about £8 once off and you get lots of additional services which are usually extra with BT. You have to have a broadband connection for it.0 -
Phoned Sky, was paying £18 per month, got 25% discount for 12 months! Was also offered 1/2 price for 3 months. So managed to keep same channels but for £13.50 instead of £18 per month.2014 running challenge 587.4 miles / 250 miles0

I'm currently with Telewest Blueyonder. I pay £60.25 a months for Talk Unlimited, Supreme TV, 4 meg broadband, Call barring (saves me a fortune on mobile calls!) Have just called 'customer relations' to cancel and got them down to £41.99 for the next three months!
Guy on the phone said they are merging with Virgin and are bringing out a lot of offers for new and existing customers in January.
Just shows you how much you can save if your assertive on the phone! Many thanks for the hints and tips on this thread.!0 -
I just called Ntl to try to get the cost of my broadband lowered. I am currently paying £17.99 a month for 2meg broadband. They immediately offered to lower it to £9.99 a month for 6 mths. Result :beer:0

Hi guys,
I also am a Telewest customer and have had quite a good deal from them,
currently have the phone with free landline calls at anytime, Basic TV package, but with the kids package added (nick, nick jr etc) and 2meg broadband, also have call blocker on my phoneline( people cant withhold number) and premium number blocker (after a drunken night watching quiz tv:embarasse :embarasse )
was £64, got the same package Without signing up for a new 1yr deal for £31. Went straight through to retentions (pushed the option to "would like to leave" on the touch tone) and explained that i could get the same from Sky for £45. The chap on the phone said "before i even look Mr james123, i can guarantee i will be able to beat that" i thought he would come in just below, but they actually beat the sky price by £15!
All in all, not a bad saving for a 15 minute callCopy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.0
